Flower Swap Interest Thread

I got this idea after I received my prima swap flowers. I always love the double and triple layered flowers sold at stores. Some are pop dotted, have rhinestone centers, or brads. They maybe be glittery, but they are always expensive.

I started thinking how to make similar ones. I know a lot of people here have cricut, sizzix, wishblade, etc. patterns to cut flowers. I talked with pretty in tink and we thought we could do a swap. This is what we have come up with so far:

6 or 8 swappers per group
different amounts of flowers to be made depending on size of flowers

at least 2 layers of paper (or vinyl)
double embellished-ink, chalk, stamp, emboss, glitter, brads, eyelets, rhinestones, distress, etc.

Pop dots would not count as an embellishment
Glitter paper or other specialty paper could count as an embellishment

We are both doing winter pages for a swap, so we have snowflakes on the brain ;) We could do a group with snowflakes too, or hearts, or stars.

Let us know what you think!

Do you have any photos of the ones you are talking about?
I don't actually scrap much, so if I have't used it already in a swap, I probably haven't seen it.

I could be in - stars would be good for Christmas or performance pages:thumbsup2

Could be good. I use lots of flowers on my pages so I would be interested to hear more. :goodvibes

What do you mean you don't scrap much?

Anyhoo - I like this idea - I'd be interested too....

:rotfl2: I only make the swap stuff. I don't really use it. I collect it. I pull it all out once a while and ooo and aaah over it and then put them back.

I know exactly the flowers you're talking about and I love them, too. They're easy to make with different layers and embellishments added. I like the versatility of these and thought awhile ago that they would be fun to make.

I would be interested, well...I am interested, just depends on the timing.

Thanks for the idea, Vicki!

I seem to interested in all of the swaps...but I would need to see an example.

I bought a pack of ready mades the other day...if I think about it, I will psot a pic when I post the pics for seasonal swap

I made a whole bunch of these for a swap that later got cancelled. Would these be considered acceptable for this kind of swap?

Depending on amount of flowers to make and amount in each group I would be interested.

I can't see the details, but it looks like you have 2 layers of paper, so if they were embellished the 2 ways, they would be acceptable to me.

pretty in tink said that she would try to post a picture of something she had, but she must have gotten busy.

I was at Wal-Mart today and looked for something I could use for a picture, but mine didn't have anything. They did have mickey font and mickey and friends cricut carts on clearance for $36 though. Too bad I already have those ;)

I'll have to see what I have or what I could make as far as posting a pic goes. Sounds like timing is a real issue for some and I know there are some major swaps going on right now-what kind of dates would work best for people?

the idea behind the hearts, stars or snowflakes is that they can be used for all sorts of things-holidays, or everyday events. Next question is would people want to sign up for specific groups of just flowers or just hearts, stars, etc: ie 6 people in a group all make hearts...or do people just want it random? 2 people could sign up for stars, one might sign up for hearts, 4 for flowers, etc?

as TPCShauna would say...clear as mud?

My swap calendar is rapidly filling. In theory, these wouldn't be terribly difficult to make but it could also depend on the number needed. The flowers I posted above were for a swap that required 6 flowers per spot times 5 people in the group. It only took a few hours to make them.

Honestly, I would probably prefer to have a group for flowers and a separate group for shapes. The shape group should probably be limited to one shape per person so we don't all get more flowers. Like 5 spots total - one for hearts, stars, snowflakes, circles/squares, and flowers.

Does that make sense? :scared:

Works for me:thumbsup2 I've got so many primas now I might not need more for my collection....er...stash.....er......pages
