Flower Applique for Wedding Dresses?

This is an odd question, but if someone's going to know, it's going to be here!

One of things I've really wanted in a wedding dress is flower applique. A lot of dresses have embellishments, be it a removeable floral attachment or a flower sewn into/onto the dress.

My dress doesn't have it, but I'd like to add a flower or two to it. I'm having the darndest time trying to find them! A lot of brands, like Demetrios, have detachable flowers, but when you buy the dress, you don't really want to get rid of what it comes with, even if you don't wear it.

I've checked eBay, I've searched search engines... I've even tried to look for fascinators that might do the trick if I just remove the comb that's attached, but I've had no luck. I do know a few seamstresses that are willing to make some for me, but I'd prefer to see it up front since I'm terrible at visualization.

I was on the www.mjtim.com website today (thanks, Caryn! ) and saw some gorgeous flowers and appliques. You may find something there.

Did you mean mjtrim? -- I just wanted to make sure.. It looks like it, but if there's another site out there, I want that one too!

It looks like some of their flower pins might work. Which helps me open up my searches... I haven't tried "flower pin" yet.

You're going to want to go to a large fabric store and look in their trim department. Are you near any city with a garment district? We have an entire city block in L.A. that's all trimmings shops. I went nuts there when I was first trying to build my own fascinator, so I think you might find something for your dress.

Also, did you search on terms like "hair flower" on eBay? I turned up some neat fabric flowers that way.

Actually, I am really impressed with the flowers at mjtrim.com. They're about what I was looking for, if not a bit large.

Hair flower, hair flower pin, flower pin, toss wedding and bridal in there too, fascinators, you name it. I did end up buying some flowers way back when, but I didn't pay attention to the size, and they're very small.

I'll have to take a look around some fabric stores though. Never occurred to me to consider it "trim". Thanks!

mjtrim is great, i order from them all the time. also, like lurky said, you could go to a big fabric store in your city. they usually have embellishments for bridal gowns there. this is the place i go to in houston
