Does the Flounder Room fill up pretty quickly during the evening? We will be traveling with an 18 month old and are hoping that she can play there during dinners. Is it true that you are only allowed to book one night in the Flounder Room and that subsequent nights your child is put on a waiting list?

The following information is taken from WebmasterMichelle's post on the kids clubs which is stuck on the top of this Cruise Board:

"Flounder's Reef Nursery Group Babysitting participation details

Participation details
- Babysitting is not available in guest staterooms.
- This service is available for children ages 12 weeks to 3 years*.
- Reservations are taken on embarkation day from 1:30-3:30p. Space is limited; available on a first come first serve basis, based on sitter availability
(In order to accommodate as many families as possible, we may limit the number of multiple requests per family)
- The fee is $6 per child per hour, $5 per additional child per hour, 2-hour minimum required
- Nursery is open each evening and selected times during each day

*Exceptions that may prevent participation:
- A child who shows symptoms of fever, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained skin rash, discharge from the nose or eyes or has any other contagious disease or illness"

Thanks Carol,

I'm just wondering how crowded Flounder's Reef will actually be in February.

Get there at 1:30 on your embarkation day & sign up for every night. They call & let you know if you've got a spot; if you want to cancel or not take the spot just tell them. We asked for & received every night for our 16-mo old last summer & it worked out perfectly . . . he didn't want to spend and hour & a half at dinner every night any more than we did! Be sure to feed your child before he goes; we ordered room service for him at approx 5pm while we were getting ready & it worked out fine. We did take him to dinner on the tropical night but he got bored quickly and we took him to FRN by 6:30 (we had a 6pm time for him but they were flexible as to what time we got there + they billed us for the full hour, if I remember).

I would expect FRN to be full every night . . . but there's always people that no-show and cancel. The sign-in sheets I saw always had spots that were blank. Their ratios looked like 4 - 1 and I remember there being at most 4 CMs there. Hope this helps!

Thanks, Jlima!

That is exactly what I wanted to know!

I am glad to hear you did get a slot even on days when you had to put your baby on the waiting list.

Ditto !!!! We took our DD2 about 2 yrs ago. We were also told after boarding that only one night was "Guaranteed". On that trip we had booked a cat 3 because we were told we could get as much time as we needed in flounders if we were in a concierge suite...... get on board and get a whole other story..... get really mad....... After much glaring and bothersome nagging I finally got the directors answer.............
"Because of limitations in space and requirements concerning ratio of care-givers, we can only guarantee 1 night per stateroom" (official talk) .........
"I have never had to turn anyone down who was on the list from embarkation sign-up." (real peson who sees you are upset talk)
The story had a really happy ending and we had all the childcare we needed. They were even very good about letting us cancell a spot and then call back 90 mins later and get back in for the night!!! The nursery was great!! The service was excellent!!!
