Flo's V8 Reviews

We ate there last week and really liked it! We would return. Our family of four shared two adult meals: one sliced turkey with mashes potatoes and gravy and vegetarian BBQ beans, the second meal was the sliced beef with two servings of mac n cheese as the sides. The meat is thinly sliced and then sort of stacked on top of each other. The food was good but definitely salty. Flo's is much larger than I realized. We ate in the dining room that overlooked the red rocks and RSR attraction. It was getting dark outside and the attraction lights were coming on---it was very beautiful!!! I had no idea there was such a pretty view from Flo's!!!!

I would reccomend Flo's!

I looked at the menu and saw that there are breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices. What are the cut off times for each (meaning until what time do they serve bf, and when does the lunch menu change to the dinner menu)?

I'm interested in hearing about this as well! Thanks in advance :)

This may be a silly question, but did they let you substitute mac n cheese for your sides? I ask this because I don't see mac n cheese listed as a side, it's only on the kids menu. Also, did they charge you extra for this subtitution? Thanks.

I tried the pies. I thought they were good but not worth the money. The apple and cheddar pie only had a hint of cheddar taste while the mud pie was just average.

My mom had the turkey plate, which had a spicy cranberry sauce and yummy dressing. She also had the mashed potatoes (she loved them!) and the veggies (average...).

I tried the BBQ pork loin. Loved the Coca-Cola BBQ sauce---tangy and delicious. They also use the sauce in the baked beans, which were also very yummy. And my favorite side would definitely be the roasted corn salad. I thought it had great flavor...very smoky. The bread on both of our plates was just subpar, though, which was a slight disappointment.

We also tried the apple-cheddar pie. I also really enjoyed it. I thought the two flavors balanced each other nicely with the apple being the forefront flavor and the cheddar making an aftertaste appearance. Definitely want to try some of their other pies.

Also like PP mentioned, the outdoor seating in the back is the BEST! You get to watch RSR go by and when the sun sets, the lit up mountain range is beautiful. :thumbsup2

I believe breakfast is served until 11am. Lunch/Dinner is the same thing from what I have seen.

We went for breakfast the first week. DH had the all American. I had the caramel banana French toast. It was AMAZING!!

I have to be honest here! I think Flos is a GREAT place and got everything down well when you think of small town diner! I love the music, the booths, nice interior and yes the out door view of Ornament Vally is just amazing! Actually I was there yesterday in the main room with a shake admiring the view! Its so cool!

But I do think the food itself is not what people expect and drives them away. Personnally I like it, but everytime I've gone, I seen at least one group look at the menu, turn their nose up and turn around. I do think people really want the burger and fries variety, especially when there isnt much of that anywhere in DCA now, and expect that kind of food, but disappointed when they see whats there.

Dont get me wrong, I'm sure most people who actually eats it enjoys it and I'm sure people will always go, but I have a feeling Disney may make some changes or additions if people dont find more theme park fare. We'll see though.

I ate breakfast twice there last week. I loved the caramel banana brioche french toast! It was really good. I think it is going to be my breakfast spot. I think a place for breakfast was much needed and I am glad it is here!

We ate at Flos last week, and we were a big group of 8 so we tried almost everything. The seating area is quite amazing, and we sat with a view of RSR. The food was just okay for us. We tried to steak, pork, and veggie tater casserole, along with the seasonal pie and apple. Nothing really stood out, and I think I'd rather go eat at the Wharf instead, which is just a quick walk around the corner from Carsland.

I ate there a couple of weeks go and really enjoyed their NY Strip Loin with gravy. Very tasty. Their milkshakes aren't bad either.

Can't beat the view sitting in the back of the restaurant. I was amazed by the amount of seating available at Flo's.

Regarding the mac n cheese.......

It is an entree choice on the kids menu. I asked the gal at the entrance, the one who handed us our menus when we walked in, if we could choose mac n cheese as our sides, she said yes it could be a substitution and to just let the cashier know. So, that is what we did. I will admit, the cashier gave me a nit of a "look" when I said that is what I wanted. But she put through the order and we were not charged extra (I would have been fine with an extra charge).

I will say again how surprised I was by all the wonderful seating at Flo's. We had passed by it several times and I thought they had that outside seating in the front only. I was thrilled to head into the dining room that overlooks the Racers. Honestly, I believe we will classify Flo's as a "must do" on future trips.:thumbsup2

Put me down for another vote for the salted caramel banana brioche french toast! :thumbsup2 I absolutely loved the sauce and will probably eat this every morning I'm in DCA in the future. Then I'll spend the rest of the day trying in vain to walk it off..... :rotfl2::rolleyes:

Agree with most everyone so far. Ambiance is GREAT, food is OK but there are better places to eat in DCA. Husbear had the steak (he was underwhelmed), I had the veggie tater casserole and chocolate shake. I really liked the casserole...mild but interesting flavor. The shake was OK but not great (In-n-Out is much better).

Personally, I prefer having a couple apps at the Cove Bar. LOVE the lobster nachos and not had anything bad there (plus the bay side view is nice).

Thanks guys for all the comments! Considering how amazing you guys saw the view is I am thinking we will try and get maybe a dessert here in the evening for the view.

I am a fan of Flo's. I love the NY strip and the Pork. I really love the NY Strip with the Coke-BBQ sauce. We think it is a excellent value for the amount of food you get. Honestly I think I will eat there more often than I thought I would.

YEah I COMPLETELY agree about the shake! I was there just on Sunday and I SPECIFICALLY went to Flos to just hang out to watch the view and tried their shake! Like you I had the chocolate and was immensely dissappointed! The McDonalds shakes were better than that. And I thought they would class it up a bit and put it in a nice shake glass like you would expect at a diner, but instead they just put it in a plastic cup. Presentation is part of the experience and Flos is ALL about presentation everywhere...except that. Again, not a HUGE deal but yeah was expecting better in the shake department. Looks like I will be sticking to their beers instead.

I haven't eaten at Flo's yet, but I will on next trip. How did they accomodate anyone with allergies? My son has multiple ones, so I am sure they are as helpful as the other CS and TS.

I am glad that Flo's as different offerings than just burger food. Your on Rte 66 and that food is served in the little diners along that route.
