My hubby and I might be buying in Florida!!! Just wondering about homeowner's insurance - who still even writes policies, who has the best rates. Anyone know?

We just signed with State Farm. I thought they were not writing in Florida anymore, but I called an agent, and she gave me a quote that was cheaper than my policy that was coming back up for renewal, so I went with them.

My homeowner's insurance is through Direct Insurance Agency (Balboa) out of Simi Valley, CA.

Tower Hill Preferred. Love them!

Depends on what part of Florida, if you are near the coast you'll probably end up with Citizen's, unless you house is going to be insured for over $500K--in that case AIG, Chubb, and a couple of "boutique" companies might take you on.
