I'm not sure how affordable they are in relation to the others, but Verizon is probably the biggest network in Florida. Other providers have dead spots, but I've never found on with my Verizon service. All my family and most of my friends use Verizon, so we can call back and forth without using minutes - very handy!

I think Verizon has a pre-paid plan that may be worth looking into.

There's a lot of discounts available in FL for different companies. I'm a teacher and we get 15-17% off our bills from Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. My husband is a paramedic for a local hospital and gets 20% off his bill. Maybe check in to that and see if your job or profession allows for a discount.
