will be there sunday - and I am looking at weather dotcom...wow what a worthless site that is - forecast changes so often as to be uselesss - we are bringing ponchos so I don't care - just want to get an idea so I know what to expect - is it raining everyday? is it fairliy consitent as to what time it rians? is it mid day to early evening? or late evening? anyway... thank you for your responses ahead of time - it will help me plan my 7 year olds' nap schedule better

thx

You should be prepared that it will probably rain at least half the days you are here and maybe everyday. The good news is it usually does not rain long. We really have not had a lot of rain lately, but we are just starting the rainy season. No real pattern yet.

thanks that is good to know - I am hoping it rains more toward the afternoon as that would be a goo dbreak time for us all anyway... thanks again for your reply - any and all insight is helpful

Where I live (about 100 miles north) we have had a ton of rain the last few days, but the weather in Florida is almost exclusively locally generated during the summer, so things might looks different in Orlando. I would definitely not go into a park without some sort of rain gear no matter how beautiful the weather may be in the morning. Chances are that there will be a storm every other day or so. Usually that happens in the afternoon and lasts less than an hour, but occasionally you'll get some morning and evening storms as well.

I'm in south FL. We have started with the afternoon thunderstorms already. Not EVERY DAY, but it gets more consistent with each day that passes.

If I were going to WDW in summer-and I were insane;) -
I would keep the following schedule:

EE (just for that extra hour, no matter what park it is)- leave around 11 or 12 to go back to resort for lunch/swim.

Around 2-4 would be the "nap" time, since it WILL rain!

Arodun 5-6 head back out for dinner and evening at the parks (a different park than the EE park).

I would say that everyone in your party will need a nap to keep up!
The heat just zaps all your energy.

If you want lots of pool time before the rains hit, I would leave the parks around 11-11:30. That way you will have time to get back to your resort/eat/swim before the storms start.

By the way, it is almost 1:30 now and the clouds are starting to build. It will probably start around 2-right on schedule!

wow - tnank you very much - My mother lives in boynton so she is close to you - she doesn't get out much so her insight hasn't been the most helpful - If I listened to her I would be laboring under the belief that soon the entire state will be washed away hahahahaha - thank you very much for your thoughts - have Ponchos - will travel

We just returned and there was not much rain, none in fact until Tuesday while we ate lunch in AK(was over before we finished eating! Perfect as it cooled things off). Then it rained hard while we ate dinner at MK in Cosmic rays Wed. evening. Sprinkled while we were in IASW yesterday morning. That was it.
Where I am in N. FL, it has poured off and on since this morning.

I should have mentioned I am 20 mins from Disney. It just started raining, but it is still Sunny

We have been making summer trips to WDW for years. Everyone has a disposable poncho in their belt pack or camera case. Seldom slowed us down. Remember outside rides stop when the lightning starts (BTM, SM, etc) Rain time is good for shopping, American Adventure, Hall of Pres, indoor restaurants, etc.

Also remember the pools close with lightning too. We did the afternoon rest bit, but often got shut out of the pools.

Well, it DID NOT rain this afternoon !!! It looked like it was going to. You never know.. just be prepared and be flexible. If you get back to your resort for your break and it rains, just do the nap first and then have some pool time before heading out for the evening. If you are flexible , you will be fine!!!! If you have a relaxed attitude about it, the kids will too!!!

I live seven miles from WDW. It takes me 17 minutes to drive to the Magic Kingdom parking lot and 14 to Epcot's parking lot.

It is POURING here right now. It has been raining on and off since 2:00 pm today. But the last thirty minutes have been really hard rain. I was just thinking of the E-ride night participants tonight and that tonight's Fantasmic will probably be canceled before I saw this thread.

We had light rain yesterday evening. And it rained all afternoon on Wednesday, very hard rain. So the rainy season is here.

We haven't developed a real pattern yet. But at least this week, it seems that it is starting to rain about 2:00 pm. Then the evenings are pretty heavy.

wow !!! thank you to everybody replying to my question - this will help me figure things our for sure...

ok - now I am pretty bummed out - I hope it does not pour all night long while we are there - I used to go to florida frquently as family retired there and Jeez sometimes it was horrendous - I am hoping it is ok in the morning - rains in the afternoon and then lets up so we can get back into the parks for the evening... that would work out perfect frankly... I mean my 7 year old will need some downtime - but it is a torrential downpour all day or half a day that will suck!!! Guess we will be going to downtown disney or something... and then on saturday we have a dolphin swim planned for my daughter - she will be totally bummed if she can't do that... let me guess... mornings are better yes? The way I remember it... mornings would be ok - sometimes blazingly hot... then right after lunch there abouts it would let loose ... maybe even until sunset and then it normally mellowed out...

I am keeping my fingers crossed

We are here visiting right now. On Tuesday, there was around a 45 minute downpour at around 12:30 while we were at Typhoon Lagoon and they closed the water areas during that time also with the lightening.

On Wednesday, it rained a bit (heavy) for around 1/2 hour while we were at IOA at around 2pm. It also rained a lot in the early evening time for around 1 hour or so.

Thursday had a 70% chance forcast of rain, so we changed our plans for Blizzard Beach that day. It did not rain a bit that day! (Of Course!!!!)

Yesterday, it rained lightly in the evening time for a while.

Today it says we have 50% chance of rain. Since we are planning on doing Blizzard Beach today, it will rain. LOL

too funny - the " we are going to blizzard beach so of course it will rain" by the way - how are the waterparks at disney?

Just back from Blizzard Beach and yes, it did rain and they closed the water areas. We were done and tired, so we left. The crowds were not that bad for slide lines today.

Nataliesdaddy, the water parks are a lot of fun. We like Blizzard Beach better than Typhoon Lagoon. It was found to be the second best water park in the nation according to The Travel Channel. Have a safe trip!

We also live fairly close to Boynton Beach in Northern Broward County (South FL area). The weather from one place or a mile or 2 away can be different, it's kinda crazy. We've gotten a lot of rain this past month, more than usual.

Whenever we visit WDW from April to October I ALWAYS place our ponchos in a JUMBO ziploc bag on the bottom of dd's stroller along with her stroller cover. I step on it til I can close the bag that it's flat so it takes up less room. We were there the first week of May and the first day and a half was quite rainy (not the typical afternoon stuff, but consistent rain).

When we were there last August it poured every afternoon but one from 12-2 and would last sometimes til after 7 that night. There were some pretty strong storms then too.

It's best to start out early as you go into the month of July and plan to go back to the resort and rest or have lunch there and rest in the mid to late afternoon this way when it does rain or storm you won't be stuck in it and your making use of that time.

Some people take advantage of the storms and head for the "normally" busy rides during these times since a lot of guests head out of the parks (as long as their indoors of course). Unfortuntately my dd is still a little young to walk around in the rain, so the heading out strategy works best for us.

Just back tonight, and yes it rained every day of our stay except this past Thursday, which was overcast most the day and very hot! My advice is to go early and get in your must dos before lunch. The real bummer was the evening rain which caused us to miss the Spectro parade and fireworks at MK on Wednesday night.

What is the rain like usually in late September ? daily , lasting for hours or what ?
thanks
