So, I've been reading all about the College Program Discounts and they seem great. But, does anyone know if you can combine a Florida Resident discount with a Cast Member Discount?

For instance, if I am a Florida Resident, I might get a hotel room for $150 instead of $200 a night. Then, can I use my CM discount and get 50% off of the $150?

Liz is right. Think about it this way: Any CM is essentially a Florida resident, so that means that every time the CM discount is used they would automatically have to give the resident discount. That wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint.

But what if my friends who live in Florida ask for the FLorida resident rate and also use my Cast Member discount. Is that possible?

No, you will book it under one rate or the other. In order to get the cast discount, you must book through the cast line and check in with them and be staying in the room. No other discount can be applied. For the Florida Resident rate proof of residency is required and again, they will not allow it to be combined with another discount. When ordering tickets, to get your discount you must buy them backstage from Company D. They are already discounted so not other discount will apply. If they are getting the Florida Resident rate, again, proof of residency is required and they can buy them from anywhere you would get tickets.

Also, your cast member discount is just for you. That means any time it is used you have to be on the receiving end. So if you get tickets, you either have to pay cash or with a card with your name on it. If you use it for a hotel you have to be physically staying in the room. For merchandise, the money must come from you. They can't even hand you the cash in the store. The only exception is food. Somebody else can pay but you still have to be eating there and your meal has to be on the bill. Violations of this can be cause for termination.

Actually, you don't have to be staying in the hotel room for your relatives to use your discount. It would just be lower. If you stay with them, its 50% off and if you are not staying them its only 40%. Also, if you buy tickets, the card doesn't have to be in your name. My dad came with me to Company D for tickets and used his credit card. All I had to do was show them my work ID to get the discounted tickets. I never heard that you have to be the one to hand them the money for merchandise. Whenever I go to Disney World with my parents, they payed for everything and I only have to show my work ID to get the discount. I remember one of the managers for merchandise was my cashier one time and she just ask for my work ID and my dad payed. I never heard anything about being terminated for this unless it changed in the last two years.

Don't know about merch but the room discount is for family and friends, up to 40%, you in the room UP TO 50% off. so yea. what I know. however, tickets are bought by the CM at Company D. Guests aren't allowed there.

Hmmm, that's interesting. My last CP was in 06 so maybe things have changed since then. When I was a CP we got into serious trouble if we allowed somebody else to pay for merchandise with our discount. I've actually seen them refuse to ring people out. I was told you can be terminated for it, but I've never heard of it actually happening. More like a wonderful discussion from cashier/manager. Guests were allowed in Company D and at Property Control, but had to be with a CM all the time.

Maybe they are allowed at certain Company D's, but the one I use is in the EPCOT Wardrobe building which requires a bag check and ID verification. I was just assuming you can't have non-CM guests backstage at the parks....Maybe I'm wrong? That just doesn't seem very Disney-Show-like....

Guests not in possession of a Walt Disney World Resort or other Florida-site Cast ID can visit the Company D locations at Team Disney Orlando and Disney University.

Of course, the purchase of items and services from any Company D is restricted to Cast Members and Employees of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies. As such, the only people it would benefit are Cast Members and Employees from other sites (DLR, WDI, TDS, DCP, ABC/CapCities/ESPN, Pixar, Studios, Corporate, etc.) who are Disney Employees but are not statused to the Walt Disney World Resort.

As to bringing non-CM Guests backstage at our Parks and Resorts, No. Not only does it violate Disney Show Standards, but it also poses a major security and safety risk. Cast Members caught bringing non-Disney Employees backstage run the risk of internal discipline, up to and including termination.

so when my family comes out to florida to visit, i have more family members than the three allotted main gate passes, so i am going to get more tickets for my family from company d. would it just be better for my parents to give me money for their tickets? cuz i think thats what they were planning already. and also i have had a question about the magic your way passes that you get at company d, are they or can you get them as park hopper? thanks in advanced! (i have ALOT of family members who want to come visit me. its exciting but crazy at the same time! i love my family :D)

Yes, it depends on where Company D is located like the pp said. I only ever used the one at DU so I sort of forget about the other locations.

The easiest thing for you to do is to just have your parents give you the money.

My parents are staying an extra few days after I check in, can I use the cast member discount the day after check in to get the two of them discounted tickets? Or do have to wait a few days?

I would love to get them in for free later on but I dont think they're coming back and I want them to experience Disney while they are there dropping me off.

the discounts won't be able to be used until after your Traditions class, because that's when you get your ID, and you need your ID to get the discounts. Once you have that ID you can get park tickets for your parents at the discounted rate.

... the website says traditions is on day 3 or 4.

So if you check in on day one they would have to wait 3 or 4 days you might have more luck searching for tickets through travel sites combined with your hotel room or deals disney has on their website, since our discount isn't huge.
