Making the trip to Universal this week, and looking at the ticket prices, it seems to make more sense to do the annual passes, based on the likelyhood of a return visit. (3 day park to park is $105, and the annual power pass with minimal blackout dates, (when we won't go anyway) is $139.

I'll definitely do at least one power pass, but I'm debating doing a preffered or premium for the wife. If I lived in the orlando area, it would be a no brainer, based on the free parking alone.

My thought process is that we do disney a lot too, and could see us making a day trip to universal more than a day trip to disney while in Orlando.

We go four to five times a year.

Anyone have any thoughts?

preferred is $229, and you get 10% discounts on tickets, food, merchandise, annual passholder rates on hotels (which are usually the same as fla resident) and the spa at Portofino, plus free self parking, which is $12 bucks.

So, I figure if I park twice over the year, thats about $70 bucks more, or roughly $700 in money spent to break even...

The premium is $289, has all the benefits of the preferred, except you get an additional 5% off food, an additional 10% off merchandise, and another 10% off at the spa, plus free valet parking, and room upgrades. They also let you upgrade to a suite at the hotels if available for $50 bucks a night.

Totally confused.....

I have the Preferred and will not upgrade to the Premier because of the renewal rate and I wouldn't use the extras. I never use valet because of the logjam if it's busy. I buy the Frequent Fear pass for HHN so that's a wasted extra and I'm not interested in the free Express after 4pm as I'm not over there that late unless it's in the summer. Plus the free Express after 4pm is only for the passholder...not their party.

If you don't live in the Orlando area or will go very often, I would stick with one Power Pass and the Preferred since you would get the free parking and park discounts. If you think you would use the extras that come with the Premier...go for it.

We have the premium and love it. I however love the valet parking aspect!

I'm actually considering buying the Preferred pass as well so this thread helps me out too.

I do have one quick question....does the free parking you get with a preferred pass carry into the hotel parking at one of the Loews Hotels in orlando? I really don't like spending the 12-15 dollars per day for parking and this would really determine if I got the pass or not

No...the hotels are not owned by Universal so the AP does not get you free parking...only at the garage.
