pls dont stone me for this question but i have a cousin in florida who'll be coming with us on our trip. can i ask her to buy our tickets using her discount? or will they check for proof of florida residency for each of us as we go in? sorry if anyone is offended by this post...

if you don't know, you don't know, no big deal. I wouldn't work if it were possible, I'd just sell passes to the rest of the U.S. :D you can buy them, but at guest services you're required to show proof of residence. we didn't have our FL licenses yet, so we had to bring a utility bill and our IL licenses.

Everyone needs to show their ID for tickets, no matter where they are from (unless they are young enough not to have an ID), since the MYW tickets are individualized. There is no way your cousin will be able to get the Florida resident discount for you. Sorry:(

You could move in with your cousin and get an ID from Florida. THen you can get the Florida res. deal.

hope someone can answer this one for me... my dad recently moved to St. Pete's - he is planning on 1/2 yr there and 1/2 yr in NY - he did get a FL ID card but kept his NY drivers lisc. - question is can he still buy a Fl resident annual pass? He does have a mailing address there and the ID card?

Technically, I didn't think the 1 state driver's license/ 1 state ID card was allowed - it may become an issue if the dmv records ever get cross checked. Second, if your dad moved to FL, why keep the NY license - the move to FL is the tax savings, by keeping a NY driver's license he opens himself up to an IRS audit - i.e. it becomes more difficult to prove that he is in FL for 1/2 the year.

As for the Fl resident discount - I think the ID card works.

Here is a list of FLA Res Requirements:
In order to take advantage of the Florida Resident Offers at Walt Disney World you must show proof of Florida Residency:

VALID Florida Drivers License

VALID Florida State issued ID card (MUST have Florida address)

Utility statement with the guest name and address along with a corresponding picture ID

VALID Voters Registration Card with corresponding picture ID

VALID Florida Based Military ID - Florida Military Bases

Pensacola Naval Air Station
Hurlburt Field Air Force Base
Eglin Air Force Base
Tyndall Air Force Base
Panama City Coastal Systems Station (Navy)
Jacksonville Naval Air Station
Mayport Naval Station
MacDill Air Force Base
Patrick Air Force Base
Miami Coast Guard Station
Clearwater Coast Guard Air Station
Homestead Air Reserve Base
Key West Naval Air Station
United States Southern Command (Miami)

VALID College ID (MUST be a Florida college)

Each adult in the party is required to have a Florida ID.

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and can not be purchased for out of state family or friends.

Do you have children??? If so he could buy their tickets...but that would be it all adults have to show ID to actually pick up the tickets.

I bought seasons pass a few yearrs back when I lived in Fla. I moved but still renew my passes every year for the discount. All they ask for is old pass and money. Going in the gate they don't require any Id at all just hand scan. ::MickeyMo

They will accept the Florida State Valid ID even if your DL is from another state and same with the College ID, Military ID w/ papers.

You have been very lucky. They are supposed to ask for your DL to see if your address has changed. :earsgirl:

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a condo in FL for our winter residence. Will we be able to get a Florida ID and subsequently get Florida resident discounts at WDW? We will own a home and have utility bills in our name, but we don't plan to change to a FL driver's license.

Will WDW accept just a utility bill as proof, if one doesn't have the Florida ID? I ask because my husband is not a U.S. citizen and may not be able to get a Florida ID if he doesn't get a fulltime visa. So could he use just a utility bill in his name for the FL resident discount at WDW?

Susan

Hmmm. Oldmouse55 that's great that you can do that.

But, how do you exchange your vouchers without them asking for ID? Or do you renew at Guest Services and they don't ask for ID? (I guess not if you've been able to do that).

They always ask us for our driver's license whenever we renew. They never let me exchange dh's voucher because he has to show his ID??

I just went through this. They've gotten absolutely NASTY about it. I've lived here for almost three years, and was RENEWING my RAP, and the guy actually (at MK - shame on them!) yelled at me for trying to buy it with my renewal form, Texas DL (long story, but I still have it), and current utility bill!

They don't accept that AT ALL anymore. I tried at three different ticket booths at two different parks, and got treated like poop at all of them.

If you DO live in FL, your quickest and easiest is to register to vote. The only non DL/State ID thing that they take is a FL Voter Registration Card + picture ID. If you go to MyFlorida.com, and search for "voter registration", you'll find links to your county's information. (Every other state I've lived in has registered voters through the libraries, but it's oddly difficult to find somewhere to register here.) Download the Adobe Acrobat registration application, add a photocopy of a utility bill + photo ID (or about a million other proofs of residency -- WDW should learn a lesson from them!!), and mail it in to the address shown for your county.

I got my VRC back in just one week! To be honest, though, I was treated so rottenly that I haven't gone back to buy my pass yet. (Where does Disney get off being more strict than the state? How can they force you to register to vote or to have a FL DL?)

I got my voter registration card when I got my FL drivers license. Not difficult at all.

Disney states clearly on everything I have read concerning resident rates that a FL photo ID is required. I don't know your story, but 3 years is plenty of time to get a state license. I believe legally, you are supposed to get one anyway.

That will work for me -- I'll try it. But my husband is not a U.S. citizen (he's Danish) so is not entitled to vote. Will he be able to get a FL driver's license without giving up his Danish license (since we will maintain two homes in two countries)? Will he be able to get a FL ID card, as just a parttime resident? He will not have an immigrant visa because he qualifies under the visa waiver program for stays of up to 3 months, and we will travel back and forth between Florida and Denmark.

My parents are actually looking into this right now, as they have just become the owners of a home in Florida that they will use seasonally. It appears from the Florida Dept. of Highway Safety that you can actually get a license issued that would be "valid in Florida only", and would allow you to retain your other out-of-state license. This is a special provision for part-time residents. Here is the link to the website: http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/ddl/4

Does anyone have experience with this? Does Disney accept this type of license as proof of Florida residency?

This kind of thing is why I left DisBoard two years ago, and why I'm leaving again today. I thought this board was a friendly place to swap information, but everytime I try that, somebody gets snippy and judgemental with me. Did I tell everyone to break the law, make up complete lies, etc.? Or did I just pass on information that I got DIRECTLY FROM DISNEY to try to answer someone's question? There was no need, nor call for the last two comments. No, you don't know my story, my story had nothing to do with this thread or this board, and you're not a Highway Patrolman, so I fail to see what on earth made you feel the need to insert your little editorial in the middle of a conversation about WDW passes.

There are an awful lot of nice people on this board, but it's just not worth all of this hassle and nonsense. Sorry, but I'm off to delete my membership now.
