A couple of comments about the plan and the Podcast.

At the current time it is only new purchases and online.

I am going through a second round of training on the Plan this coming week.

I am aware that "in the near future" it will be available at Ticket Windows and Guest Relations Offices and also will include renewals. My personal thought is that it will be within the next month.

And another opinion I have (and not confirmed) is that renewals will not require a down payment, other than the immediate first payment.

And also a person does not have to do the renewal rate, even if it is within the 30 day window. The renewal rate tends to have an eight or nine percent discount from the cost of a new pass. If they will not be using the pass for more than a month after the expiration date it makes economic sense to let the pass lapse and then buy new when needed.

Do you think they'll do it before the 8/31? Just because of the fact that for those that expire before then and renew can still get the 15 months promo...or do you think they'll wait until that's over....and the annual ticket increase will be in effect by then too

Still crossing my fingers that they'll open it to renewals sooner rather than later as I'm expiring soon

Thanks for the info CF!

Under the current system, its been my practice to let my AP lapse and just buy new ones on our next visit simply because otherwise we were paying for months we didn't use. Under the old system, you could renew and get a voucher that the clock didn't start on until you activated it so you got the best of both, a discounted rate and an extended expiration date. But Disney wised up to that.

I'm gearing up to purchase this way.... super excited this is offered!

A few clarifications.

When we start doing renewals you will not have to make a down payment on a renewal. The first of the 12 monthly installments will be no later than the next business day after you do the renewal (live or online).

If purchasing at a WDW window the only acceptable forms of identification for the purchaser are specifically a Florida Driver's License, a Florida State-Issued ID, or a Florida Voter's Registration card along with a photo ID. If purchasing online there has to be both a Florida Zip Code as well as the system making sure the origination IP Address is within Florida. For persons other than the one making the payment, the normal Florida ID rules apply.

For purchases made at WDW the down payment may be adjusted and may be any amount as long as it is at least equal to a one day, one theme park, pass.

If upgrading to an AP specific rules apply. Normal upgrade policies generally are followed. The down payment must be at least the current gate value of the pass upgrading from (no change will be given). No upgrade will be done more than 14 days from date of first use; this includes the Play-3 and Play-4 passes which normally have a six-month upgrade window.

Is there any hope/talk of extending this for Non-Florida residents?

Chesire Figment, I saw you can you do renewal payment plans at the parks now...true? And is it like you stated before where we don't have to have a down payment, just monthly payments? What if I'm still within my renewal period and eligible for the the 15 months...if I renew can I still get that?

The Monthly Payment Plan for on-site (as opposed to on-line only) and for renewals anbd not just new APs when live on August 11.

A renewal does not require a down payment; only the 12 monthly payments with the first payment within one business day of signing the contract.

And as long as the renewal is done within 30 days of expiration and by August 31, 2010 you will get the 15 months.
