What is needed to prove Florida residency to get the discounted resort rates and park tickets?

My mother purchased a condo in Florida last summer and she splits her time between Florida and New Hampshire.

She now has a Florida State ID with her picture and Florida address on it, but the person at the DMV said it would not work for proof of Florida residency for Disney - only a Florida drivers license works.

I called Disney and the CM was very nice, but did not seem very certain in her answer when I asked this. She stated the Florida State ID would work as long as it has her picture.

Can anyone help? Has anyone used the Florida State ID to get the discounts?

Thanks!

Fl ID = FL resident so she has already proven her residency with the state to get the ID. You have to show your mortgage or one of the other forms of residency requirements to get the ID.

My husband and I split our time between Florida and Iowa. We both have Florida ID's which work fine for getting our Fl. annual pass.
We needed a copy of our taxes or a utility bill with our names on it to get the Fl. id initially.

We have a second home in Florida and have Florida ID cards. We did have a problem ordering tickets online, when we entered Texas as our mailing address but then said we have a Florida ID, does not compute:surfweb:

However, we had no problem at all walking up to the ticket both at a park and buying tickets with the Florida discount.

Maybe if we called and explained our situation we could have things mailed here. We don't want anything mailed to our house in Florida, we are hardly there:mad:

We have the Florida ID, 8 bucks, and are snowbirds. Never had any problem with securing a room or buying tickets in person.

For Florida tickets to be mailed they have to go to the Florida address.

And when I did live in Florida, they wouldn't even mail actual TICKETS to your address, just vouchers, which you had to go to the parks and exchange anyway -- so they could see your Florida ID. So ordering in advance wouldn't really be saving you anything - I'd just do it at the parks with the ID and she should be fine.

but the person at the DMV said it would not work for proof of Florida residency for Disney - only a Florida drivers license works.

This same info was in another thread. The poster there also said that the person at the DMV said it wouldn't work at Disney. This must be the party line there.

I wonder if its just a FL state resident miffed that you are getting some perk that they think you shouldn't get because you are not a full time resident. :confused3

The person working at the DMV is there just to validate and issue licenses and ID's, how or where I use them is none of her business. When we go to WDW, it's up to the Disney CM's to respond to a Florida ID and as I stated previously, never a problem, we pay taxes in Florida and a re just as entitled as anyone.

These are the official rules:

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and cannot be purchased for out-of-state family or friends.

An adult Florida Resident may purchase Florida Resident media for more than one Florida Resident from any location that provides an exchange certificate and not an actual ticket.

Children under the age of 18 are not required to provide proof of Florida residency if they are accompanied by an adult with valid proof of Florida residency

If the Guest has an exchange certificate, a valid form of Florida ID will be required when the exchange certificate is redeemed for the actual pass

One ticket only per valid proof of Florida residence (a Florida resident may buy tickets for minors in the party)

Exchange Certificates may say:

"After sale..., may not be transferred except as a gift." This means that the certificate may be given as a gift, so long as the recipient meets the defined Florida residency criteria.

"Purchase and redemption of this exchange certificate requires proof of Florida Residency."

The following items are the only documents accepted as proof of Florida Residency:
* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Florida Voter’s Registration Card with the Guest's name and address with corresponding photo ID
* Valid Florida University / College Student ID
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases listed below:
o Clearwater Coast Guard Station
o Eglin AFB
o Hurlburt Field AFB
o Jacksonville Naval Air Station
o MacDill AFB
o Mayport Naval Air Station
o Miami Coast Guard Station
o Naval Support Activity - Panama City
o Patrick AFB
o Pensacola Naval Air Station
o Tyndall AFB
o Kennedy Space Center
o Homestead Air Reserve Base
o Key West Naval Air Station
o United States Southern Command (Miami)
o Naval Ordnance Test Unit in Orlando and Cape Canaveral
o Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
Note that as long as she spends more than 30 days per year in Floridfa she can get a special "Valid in Florida Only" Driver's License and will not have to turn in her home state licaense. This is considered a valid Florida Driver's License for WDW ticketing purposes.

They have seen just all of the scams possible, so yes, ordering in advance and having them mailed to you, only means that the vouchers will be mailed. You still have to show proof of residency to pick up the tickets.

For Florida tickets to be mailed they have to go to the Florida address.

That's not true. You can't buy them online if you are using a non-FL address for billing and/or shipping, but you can buy them over the phone and have them (the exchange certificates) shipped to your non-FL address.

I live in fla. and they will take your money over the phone but you have to go to will call to pick up the tickets, they did not mail me anything.
