Would Florida consider instituting a quarantine for visitors from certain other areas that are COVID hotspots, like some of the northeastern states have done?

I know that Florida is one of the few states without a statewide mask mandate, but deaths per capita in Florida are running well below the national average for the last week or so, in line with New York. People coming from places like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Illinois could really cause things to worsen in places like Florida and Georgia, where the outbreak is not as severe.

I'd be surprised if Florida did anything like that. They are pretty loosey goosey with their restrictions and haven't seemed to increase them despite the spikes everywhere.

I just afraid that when I get off the plane on the return they will lock me in irons and put me away. How dare I travel!
No I think they would let you spend your money first and help their economy. THEN before you get on the plane...Then..

Not likely from our politicians. I think at one point the governor threatened to do that to people traveling from NY, but only as retaliation for them doing it to travelers from FL.
I thought they did it in March or Aprilish. It wasnt only NY but there was several other locations on the quarantine list but I forget which ones. My wifes Uncle passed away in Ga, in April, and they had the I95 rest area setup as a screening location. They basically forced everyone on I95 or I10, and some of the side roads into a given location, and if you were from 1 of the states you had to be screened and given paperwork on what you could and couldnt do. We drove from CFl to Ga and back and had to drive thru it We saw several cars on the 2 trips up and back in front of us, that were pulled from the line, and sent further back in the lot for additional screening while the rest of us were directed back out onto the Interstate.

@truck1 You are correct LA was also on the list but it won't happen again. Our governor feels that we have covid treatments so there is no need for restrictions

Yes that sounds right. Honestly that whole time period is kinda fuzzy given that it was the beginning of the pandemic and we were in the middle of a multi state move. But I do know that DeSantis’ anger at NY played into it.

My wife and I were talking about it a couple of weeks ago. Im very fuzzy on the details and even the exact date. I just remember that it was sometime in late March or early April and we went up 2 weeks apart. 1 to say goodbye, and the other for the funeral. We came back, got into the rest area, they asked where we were coming from, we said Ga, and they said have a nice day. That was about it.
I wouldnt be surprised if it was a tit for tat move. I gave up watching the news along time ago and basically skim thru google news or something like that for info.

I seem to remember some of that. The I-95 corridor seems to not be doing as badly as some of the other areas right now (Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, Arkansas).
