Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that Phase 1 of his plan to reopen the state will begin on Monday, May 4. Updated rules will be in place except in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, which have been the most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Phase 1 does not specifically address Florida's theme parks, however does provide updated rules on retail and dining.
  • Restaurants can reopen with 6-foot social distancing for outdoor seating and 25% capacity for indoor seating.
  • Retail establishments can reopen with 25% capacity.
  • Elective surgeries can resume.
  • Schools campuses will not reopen and will remain on "distance learning".
  • Visits to senior facilities will not be allowed until a testing procedure can be implemented.
  • Bars will stay closed.
  • Gyms will stay closed.
  • Hair salons will stay closed.
  • Movie theaters will stay closed.
  • Those over 65 and/or at risk should remain home.
I can't see WDW reopening during phase 1 with these guidelines.

Only the first two items on your list really apply to anything at WDW. I think with reduced capacity those two are doable.

ETA: The bar thing will be a sticking point, but as long as you can get a drink at the restaurant you should be okay.

There should be a statement today from leaders in Orange and Volusia counties responding to the governor’s reopening plans, it was postponed after the governor moved his announcement back to 5 p.m yesterday

“We will take recommendations by the governor under advisement and have more to say about that tomorrow,” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said.

Volusia County Chairman Ed Kelley said he wants to reopen Volusia County businesses “the sooner, the better - but safely.”

Yes Le Cellier does like to pack them in. One year my husband got sick the day after we had dinner there, the man that was sitting next to us had been sick and had only just gotten better. I do believe my DH caught whatever the man next to him had, they might as well have been sitting at our table we were so close. :sad2:

The problem is though, imagine Main Street parade and the crowds after. I cant see how they can realistically control all those people to stay 6ft apart......

Best guess is there will be no parades, fireworks, or meet and greets when parks initially re open. All will eventually return, but not until there is general consensus that the Pandemic has been tamed.

for the short to medium term (at least) I think it safe to assume there won't be any parades, or fireworks for that matter.

Are they going to limit the monorail to one family per car? How many people will be allowed in a bus? In the parks, will the stores have lines outside? How can you run something like the Haunted Mansion?

I noticed on the WDW Park Schedule that it now begins May 24th (It's been moving along with the continued closure) and there are no parades or fireworks listed at any park up until November 2020

I’m looking at the Disney website and it still shows fireworks, parades and MNSSHP in Sept, Oct and so on. Of course, it’s all subject to change.

I honestly don’t like the parades. Hide your pitchforks! They jam up the streets, and I can’t get to where I want to go. I completely understand and respect that for some, this is a huge part of the Disney experience. For me, I find them a nuisance. I go to WDW for the rides. I do like the fireworks. I’d be bummed if those are cancelled for a while, but I’d still go. Now, if 1/2 the rides are closed, we won’t be going until they open back up.
