Florida Oranges

OK I remember as a kid my parenst always brough back bags of Florida oranges. Last year we stayed off site and didn't get to do any touring. Do they still have roadside stands where you can buy bags of Florida oranges and grapefruit? How much do they cost? How much have you brought back with you? We're thinking to leave one suitcase empty for souviners and well, oranges! Any help would be great!

Would they fit in a carry on?? Are you allowed to bring fruit in your carry on??

I'm pretty sure that you're not allowed to bring fruit across the border. I would have loved to bring back a suitcase full of fruit, but I wouldn't want to take a chance on having it confiscated by customs.

You can bring oranges and grapefruit back. There are some Indian River stands around. I usually bring back a bag of each. It is more of an issue bringing in fruit to the U.S. than the other way around.

I'm pretty sure that you're not allowed to bring fruit across the border. I would have loved to bring back a suitcase full of fruit, but I wouldn't want to take a chance on having it confiscated by customs.

It may sound sarcastic -- but it's not meant in that way -- the Canadian government isn't going to confiscate oranges at the border because there is no domestic citrus crop to protect from any potential diseases on the oranges being imported.

I'm not worried I'm driving back across! And I have never been asked about fruit. Turkey yes- but that is only during Black Friday/Thanksgiving & Christmas. I'm not too woried about the fruit.

It's been a tough, tough year so far and my DH and I both badly need a break. We didn't really get one at Christmas- worked through it- and on weekends we are both still working except for 1 day and well even then... Whenever I am on the board this is my procrastination/break time.
