I have been asked by some neighbours who have never been to Florida to give them some advice! They want to go to Florida for one week in November and are on quite a tight budget. It will just be the two of them.
I suspect they will want to go to the theme parks most days out of the 6 they are there for. I would suggest staying in a hotel near Lake Buena Vista possibly the Comfort Inn but maybe thats because I have never stayed anywhere like I Drive. Also who is best to travel with again I may be biased towards Virgin having not been with any other tour operator in recent years?
Another thing is would a car be of use or would the insurance etc out way its purpose?
Many thanks for your time over these questions.

we are off in november. I recently looked at prices of flights for that time and saw some charter flights with thomas cook airlines for £299. gatwick to sanford. You can probably get a hotel room quite cheaply or a villa for £350 - 400.

We've just booked for Florida in November...so I scouted around for you....using Nov. 20th-27th as the dates

Flights......BA Scheduled from Gatwick £315.00 each
2 -door car ( FULLY Inclusive of EVERYTHING!) £ 133.00 per week

7 Day tickets to IOA/US £60.00 each

We're taking a 4 bed villa ( £375 inc pool heat ) but I'd reckon you can pick up a hotel for £30 per night

The prices for flights/car/tickets are on the net right now, I've assumed a price of £30 per night for a hotel which should be feasible. If your friends wanted to do WDW for only 1-2 days they'd need to pay at the gate ( there won't be a queue worth mentioning in Nov. )...but if you buy a 1-day ticket and decide to go to a WDW Park again you can get $5 each off if you buy a ticket same day (hope that makes sense ! ).

Hope this is of some use to your friends to work out costs!

Just to say that he 27th will be Thanksgiving Day over in the States and apparently it can get very busy on that day!

Also your friend could always try Priceline for a hotel. I got a some brilliant prices for hotels at DTD for December.
I recommend reading this board Bidding for travel beforehand.

Priceline

I have also heard of Hotwire for good hotel prices. I have not used these personally.

my sis-in-law got married last year on Thanksgiving and much of hte family went to Orlando for the wedding. They were in MK that week and it was HEAVING. I would suggest November is a good time to travel as long as you avoid Thanksgiving week.

Mike,

Can I ask who you have booked the villa through. That's a good price.

When are you going?

As so often with my DW ( he said, passing the buck !! ) we've now passed on the villa at £375 and gone for one on Indian Creek, mind you it's still a bargain at £395 inc pool heat.

We used two companies

www.orlandovillas.com
www.evilla-rentals.com

to find villas ( 1 week each on gulf coast and Orlando ).

We gave them the dates we wanted and got responses from the owners who advertise on their sites. Prices ranged from £350 - £670........one or two optimistic owners there, we thought!

We used evillas in 2001 .......and got a similar bargain, but this time orlandovillas came up trumps. We had upwards of 60 replies and had a great time sifting through them.

Claire.............squitty is absolutely right...my apologies to you! While the bulk of November is VERY quiet the Thanksgiving weekend is VERY busy!! For goodness sake that's why we're spending the first week on the Gulf Coast!!! Go on, call me dumb!! Apologies for the misinformation.

Mike,
Apology accepted;)
s for dates my neighbours have told me they can only travel out on Nov 22nd as their 9 month old baby is being looked after by family who can only do those dates!! Have informed them it will be very busy so they are warned! At the moment I think they are looking towards My Travel and TCD so any comments on the service from these two companies would be appreciated as they dont really want to hire a car.
