Florida Man Beats Up Dead Body in Coffin

Timothy Cleary of Apopka, Florida, walked into a church in Orlando, and attacked a body in an opened casket while the funeral was being conducted.

Mourners who were at the church for the funeral attacked him while others called 911. Police arrested Cleary for multiple charges stemming from the incident.

A judge set bond on Saturday for $350 even though a public defender recommended he be held for mental evaluation.

As disturbing as I'm sure this event was, I have to admit the subject line made me :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . Please tell me I'm not alone? :o

:lmao: Okay no, really this is very serious... I can't imagine sitting at a funeral service and having this happen. Was there any indication that he knew the person? Did he have an old debt to settle with him? Not knowing the whole story I think $350 is not enough for someone who is capable of doing something like that, though. If it was not an isolated incident whats next? Headline is still funny though :rotfl2:

Sounds like a little urban legend to me. I, personally, have never been to a funeral, at a church, that had an open casket. Course, I don't get out much.

Sorry, but this isnt funny at ALL! And to those of you who think it is, what if that was your father, brother, son, etc. ?? The guy would of had a very long stay in a hospital if that had been my family!

Every funeral I've ever been to they closed the casket just before it started.

All funerals I have been to have been open until the service was over but I cannot even imagine...so sad but yet funny at the same time:confused3

I think this is true. I recall seeing something about it in the news last week. It didn't interest me enough to read the whole article so I can't offer and details.

No, it's true. It made the nightly news down here last week. It's one of those stories where you don't know whether to laugh or cry. :confused3

Police said Timothy Cleary of Apopka walked into the Harvest Baptist Church located in the Parramore neighborhood in Orlando and attacked the body.

Mourners at the funeral then attacked Cleary while others called 911.

When officers arrived, they took Cleary into custody at the church. He faces several charges in connection with the incident.

A public defender wanted Cleary held for a mental evaluation but a judge set bond Saturday at $350.

A motive for the alleged attack was not known.

it is terrible...... but honestly since we weren't there, it is pretty funny. especially since i know a guy named timothy cleary!!! i hope it wasn't him.......:lmao:

When I was 13, I went to a funeral and as I went to view the body, a man (relative) of the deceased, lifted the body (to a sitting position, at least that's what it looked like from my angle) and was screaming "Why did you die"? I was terrified. I only knew the widow at the time.

I imagine it was scary for those who witnessed what occurred....

Unfortunately, I have been to many funerals in my 30 years on this earth and all have had open caskets until it was time to go to the cemetary.
