As scared of the storm hitting, I will have to step away for just a sec and admit it is a beautiful storm....Its just so perfect...

It is amazing to see those Satelite images. I keep checking out the www.noaa.gov site and those images are amazing.

CAnn, why don't you go further north, as long as you are willing to travel, like up into the mountains in TN

Thank you for all the sites. My SIL is also sending tracking sites. Thanks to my wonderful BIL and SIL we have a place to go AND we can take our animals. They live in Cape Coral on the west coast. They just went through Charley and luckily didnt have too much damage to their house. I no longer have to fret about finding a hotel that takes animals. There are just NO hotels to be found on the west coast of Florida.

Hey guys - thanks for providing that noaa site. Those satellite images are amazing!

UGH UGH UGH!!!!

Have no idea as yet what our plans our. We live in Indian River county, just north of Vero Beach. The most recent projection was damn close to us!!! Scared to go south (because in FL you can only go so far south) only to see the storm dip south. Scared to go north and get caught in not only traffic, but have the storm follow us up north. Can't really go west (FL is a narrow state, and have heard reports of hotels being filled already).

Just to give those in other states some idea of what it is like here on the far far east central FL coast. MANY gas stations were out of gas by yesterday afternoon (esp. reg. unleaded-thank goodness we use the higher stuff) last night (9pm) we waited in a walmart gas station line for close to 20 min to get gas. The lines were crazy, and because our tank was on the passenger side and it seemed like everyone else in the world is on the driver side, we had to back our way through the line. We also filled up two red gas cans. All three cars and 2 gas cans are now full, and if we leave we will have to leave at least one car behind, we thought we could siphon our own gas out of it. Lowes and Home Depots in the area are swamped. They are virtually out of plywood (thank god we have hurricane shutters, and had a stash of plywood in our garage). We plan on going to Lowes tonight when SO gets home from work to either buy a garage door reinforcing kit of some wood to do-it-ourself. We started stocking up on water, canned goods and camping sterno stove things on Monday, and good thing we did, Walmart is wiped out!

They are now reporting school closings for Thursday and Friday. Lake County where my DD goes just announced they will be closed Friday and we are already off on Monday for Labor Day.

Hurricane Frances, you are not welcome here, GO AWAY!

My Publix I work at, is already OUT of Water, and not much more is being delivered....we sent MOST of it to the Charley victims.:o I am SO hoping this does not hit us full force, as we will really be IN TROUBLE!:( Pray for us ALL, those out of this state....Faith:o

My oldest son just called from Deland, which is near Daytona Beach. The university he attends there (Stetson) has announced classes are cancelled tomorrow and Friday and they'll be evacuating the campus beginning tomorrow morning.

GO AWAY FRANCES!

It sounds like, from what I have heard, that Frances isn't going anywhere but the US. There's a ridge of high pressure to the north that is preventing Frances from turning out to sea. It sounds like this ridge is basically lining Frances up to hit Florida.

The wind field is nasty huge. I know if I were there, I'd be leaving today and wait it out somewhere safer.

By the way, have you guys seen the barometric readings on Frances. Last night it was 27.72. That is SO low. Our TV met said he hadn't seen anything close to that low out of a hurricane in a long time,

Best of luck everyone.

Gee you guys really know how to make us feel better. We are well aware of how big it is, of how strong it is, how it could grow stronger, etc.

And where would you go Zulaya? That's what I am trying to figure out right now. The whole state is going to feel the effects. I have ressies at WDW but now that doesn't seem like the safest thing. Where does one go when trying to out run a hurricane as big and as strong as this one?

Miss Jasmine, You could come up to WNY! We're heading up to the Thousand Islands, NY for some fishing.

Seriously, though. Please leave if you can. Otherwise, take care. Stay safe.

Karen

unfortunatly just picking up and leaving is not an option. (Animals ect..)
All we can do is prepare as best as we can and pray!!! So any spare pixie dust anyone can give would be great!! I really am very scared!!:(

Miss Jasmine,
You are always welcome up here in Wisconsin.::yes:: We'll be praying for you.

What is that tiny island the hurricane is headed for? Is that part of the Bahamas?

I'm close to the coast in GA. I did a search on hotels in Atlanta. There are still alot of room left. Looks like I will be heading there if we get evacuated.

Gosh, I feel so bad for you folks in Florida........stay safe and I will be praying for all of you.:(
