So I am thinking of upgrading one of our passes to Disney gold pass. I see it includes the Disney photopass downloads. Does this mean I get to download the photos taken of us for free from the Disney site or do I have to purchase some sort of memory maker?

Yes. You’ll be able to have free access to all the PhotoPass photos in your MDX account.

Make sure you have a magicband with a functioning battery. Not all ride photos have a touchpoint and none of the videos do.

Is there a way to confirm whether your battery is still working? I have a drawer full of MagicBands (yes, first world problem of the most annoying humblebrag magnitude) and don’t want to order any more unless absolutely necessary.

Batteries supposedly last 2-3 years, so it would have to be the gen 2 versions. I have started added the year to my name on the bands so I know how old they are. I use just the last number, so this year has a 9 at the end of the name printed on the back of the disc.

ALSO - you may get lucky and be able to access photos that were taken before you upgrade. Possible that all photos on the photosite become active to you.

I think they are good for at least 2 years so anything newer should be fine.

Only way to check is to go on a ride and see if the photo shows up.
