Those of our DIS friends who weathered the hurricane... please check in here so we know you guys are okay!!

From far So Miami-Dade County. Charley only gave us tropocal storm winds and a bit of rain. No damage other than avocados coming off the tree and a few of my plants knocked over.
Charley has delayed my daughter's departure for Ohio and she leaves tomorrow morning and will drive straight through to Kent. Her belongings have already arrived. A friend is driving with her and will fly home.

HI, We are about 35 minutes from WDW in Western Polk County, Lakeland. We did great. Had some winds. HOwever the eastern side of the county is a mess. I work for a dialysis company and my clinic in Lake Wales will be out of commission for at least a week. Tommorrow we will work on where for our patients to dialyze. Our clinic in Arcadia was completly destroyed. Please pray for these patients. Dialysis is there lifeline and we must all scatter to ensure they get their treatments. But like I said, me and my family are EXTREMELY greatful we are alright.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (South, FL-Fort Lauderdale area)

We're VERY lucky as we had barely any affect from the storm. We're really thinking about everyone else in the state right now. Our thoughts are with fellow Floridians dealing with this awful aftermath.

Polk County(Western)

We too weathered it well...some small debris, neighbor lost an old shed...otherwise...no flooding, no power loss, it was just a NASTY storm...

Heard from my dad (near Ocala) but haven't heard from my sister (Okachobee).

We got lucky again in the Tampa/St. Pete area. Spent Friday securing GF's house and the backyard only to have the hurricane choose a different path. The scene just a short distance south is terrifying!

Orange County....incredible damage but so far no major injuries or deaths here.

We're in Lake County, just north & west of Orlando. We were very lucky that Charley veered away from the path they originally predicted, as we would have taken a direct hit if the storm stayed on that path. Instead we only caught the outer fringes & had minimal winds & no damage at all. We didn't even lose power here! :umbrella:
Prayers & PD :wizard: to those more severely affected by the storm, & those currently vacationing at WDW! Hope everyone is OK.
Thanks for asking!

I posted Yesterday, about Key West and us being OK....feel bad for Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers area though, pray for all......Faith.:(

St Augustine, St John's County.

Strong winds & rain frm 0100 - 0200. Max gust to about 70 mph at the beach.

No significant property damage.

A HUGE limb (about 1' wide) fell off a tree at my house and missed hittng our boat by about an inch.

Our bacon was saved by the last hours zig to the east.

If it had kept to it's forecast path we would have been smacked.

just wanted to check in.

I was on the East end of Charley. I'm in the UCF area.

There was a lot of wind. I live in an apratment, a couple of trees near the lake I'm by went down. Our power "surged" a few times. My windows are fine.

My phone is not working.

Cheryl

Pinellas county- only a little rain.

I know for many people it is difficult because there is no phone service and electric service right now in Charlotte county and other counties. In some places there it may take up to a month to have their power restored. So if we don't hear from someone from that area, we can't panick it could be just that they have no means, and bigger priorites right now. Just keep them all in your thoughts.

We are fine up here. Just a few trees down from rain in past days (Bonnie gave us a bit and we had lots the day before).

Jacksonville - Duval County

As posted previously, the change of course kept us out of the path of the storm. DH said that we had a some rain and winds. But, the winds weren't much higher then what we get with a normal thunderstorm.

Palm Beach County

We were also very lucky to have dodged this one. All we had was some wind.

Anyone from Volusia County/Daytona Beach? I have friends there I haven't heard from and I'm curious as to how they faired.

Checking in from South Clermont...

Heavy rains and winds last night and we just had a bad thunderstorm this afternoon but no damage and no tress down in my subdivison. We only lost power for a second or two last night. Thank you God.

My Mom is over in St Cloud and they had no power all last night. She doesn't have a regular phone, only a cell phone and its been really hard getting in touch with her.

They showed a reporter about 5 miles east of here, near Celebration and the 192/I4 interchange....lots of damage in that area with trees down, huge business signs down etc. I will be traveling that way in an hour to try to get to work at the Wilderness Lodge, hopefully I will have no problems.

We also were spared here in Lakeland, some wind and alot of rain.
My mom in Dundee did not fair as well. They had gusts up to100mph hit them. THey have trees down, screen room ripped off their house and some roof damage. The good thing is everyone is safe.

Same here. Now we just need to hope that Tropical Depression #5 turns out to be a dud!
