Am I reading correctly that children over the age of 5 don't need to be I'm a booster seat. Just the regular seat with a seat belt. Where I come from they have to be in a booster until the minimum age of 8.

Just remember, if the seat belt doesn't clear their neck, they need a booster. Maybe not by law, but if you want your child safe, make sure the seat belt won't choke him/her in an accident.

With the shocking standard of driving in Florida maybe a booster seat should be used.

Driving in Florida ....... Weaving between lanes ( Going nowhere )

Texting & On the Phone .

Trying to read Hand Held GPS while driving.

Comment from Driver when I spoke to her as she entered Publix .

I said to her that She nearly caused 3 crashes including a near miss of her own car , With her 3 children inside ,going into drain .

Her Comment WAS " I was not paying Attention " I was phoning my friend & eating an Orange .

  • Age 3 and under must be in a car seat.
  • Age 4-5 must be in either a car seat or a booster seat.
  • Age 6 and over must be restrained, by seat belt, booster seat, or car seat.

What does everyone do if they use UBER? We have a day at Universal planned. My kids will be 7 & 9. At home they are both still in boosters. I'm OK with my 9 year old going without, but I don't know what to do about my 7 year old. Has anyone ever had an UBER with a booster? If not, did you take a bubble seat and put it in a locker?

I am wondering the same thing

At WDW & UO, you can request an Uber with a car seat for an additional $10. Most of the car seats are rated up to 60 or 65 lbs., so it might work if your 7yo is small, but still could be a tight fit.

There's no way to request a booster seat, and I doubt many drivers have one. A Bubble Bum is probably your best bet.

Bubble Bum!
Just purchased two Bubble Bums for my niece and nephew for our upcoming trip. Now wondering whether I need to purchase a set belt clip, or whatever they are called, to ensure the seat belt clears their necks.

This is from the Bubble Bum web site:

What is a shoulder belt positioning clip?

A shoulder belt positioning clip is for comfort only and positions the vehicle seatbelt across the center of the chest away from the face and neck. This prevents the vehicle seatbelt being a discomfort to the child, often resulting in the child putting the vehicle seatbelt under the arm or behind the back, which is extremely dangerous.

OK, I can tell it's a Monday, LOL! So, this is saying it's a good thing? The way it's worded, when i first read it, it sounded like the clip can result in the child putting the seatbelt under the arm, etc... But, then, when I re-read it, it sounds like the clip PREVENTS this, as the belt is more comfortable. :)

I read it as saying it's not required for safety, but it's a good idea to keep the kid happy.

OP just follow the more sensible laws of your state. Keeps the kids safer. What's odd is that the current FL laws are more strict than they were not too long ago.

In order to assist a PP in using a booster seat in order to comply with state law, I'll say that I thought the BBum had what is something of a positioning clip built in. If you can practice with it, you might find that it needs nothing else.

From the same faq:

"The clever side clips position the lap belt perfectly and the shoulder belt positioning clip ensures that the vehicle shoulder belt sits across the center of the chest."

It has one.

Yes, that is the law in FL. Doesn't mean it's safe by any means but it's the law none the less

Bubble Bum comes with one. At least ours did

DGD is 8 and we don't worry with a booster when we use Uber. We did use our bubble bum when she was 6. But not now
