Florida Beaches???

We are considering going to the beach one day. Can someone recommend a nice beach that is within a 2 hour drive from WDW? I would not to drive further that that.

Clearwater beach is about 2 hours west of WDW. It has a beautiful white sandy beaches and nice shops.

Last year we went to Clearwater. If I remember correctly it was right around 2 hours. Family friends live there, and we stayed overnight, but it really wasn't a bad drive.

We went to Cocoa Beach one year and didn't like it at all. We only stayed about an hour. If there is anyway you could squeeze a stay in I would recommend Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We loved it there!!!

Clearwater is nice, but I hate the I4 drive to get there.

Personally, I prefer the Gulf beaches over the Atlantic beaches. Then again, I grew up in Tampa, so I spent almost every summer at one of the beaches along the FL west coast.

My DD13 and I (mother/daughter trip) ventured out and found Siesta Key Beach! It was heavenly, easy to find and exactly 2 hours from WDW. We're heading back there on our next trip. I wish I would have thought ahead and brought a beach umbrella (we fried!). Other than that it was a perfect day!

I agree that Siesta Key is beautiful. It seems to be longer away than two hours though. (I hope I am wrong.) When we would go there from Madiera Beach (South of Clearwater) it would take about an hour from there.

We go to Clearwater Beach/Indian Rocks Beach every 6 months and will be going there after we leave Disney next month. It's beautiful! We also prefer the Gulf beaches to the Atlantic beaches. The sand is sooo much better. Soft and white like powder! Clearwater isn't even 2 hours, probably closer to 1.5. We just drove from Indian Rocks (2 miles south of CLearwater) to Disney in February and it was between 1 hour 15 minutes and 1 hour and a half. Not real scenic drive, but it's worth it to visit Clearwater Beach! Beautiful! Very family friendly beach.
