Hey All!

I'm having a phone conference with my Disney Florist tomorrow and was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice. I really don't want to go all out on floral for the wedding. I having my reception at ADH and a lot of people who had their receptions there, say that not a lot of decor is needed.

Can anyone recommend their centerpieces that were one the cheaper side? I am open to anything! My fiance and I were thinking of even just doing votives on the tables? Does anyone know how much the laterns cost?

Also, how did you cut costs done for your ceremony floral? We would like some decor out there but I don't want to blow my whole budget on floral/decor. Does anyone have any tips on how to cut costs?

Thanks!!! :cool1:

I totally don't mean to be flippant about this, but I think these are exactly the kinds of questions you can ask your floral planner tomorrow! :thumbsup2

They don't expect you to come to the call with a list of exactly what you want - I think this is the time when you can talk through your options with them. I'll bet they'd love to help you come up with ideas (maybe even more than being told exactly what to do), and if the prices are too rich for your blood, let them know. There are lots of ways to cut down costs.

The florist can tell you which flowers are cheaper and give you the prices of things like lanterns, votives, etc.

I don't know how much they cost, but Linda had some beautiful floating candle centerpieces at the ADH that seemed to be perfect! They had red roses in the water beneath them. I'm hoping she'll stop by with one of her pictures! (Which are also gorgeous btw!) :thumbsup2

Don't stress over asking for cost saving ideas. I kind of freaked out at my planning session cuz I was saying no to alot and then started saying yes to stuff. I did cut it down and have changed my BEO and floral since and my planner and florist have been helpful with staying in my price range. Remember that you are not set in stone once you are done with your PS. Goodluck and enjoy yourself!!!

Carrie, I understand what you are saying and I am sure the florist has tons of options for me. The problem is that I just booked my disney wedding this past week and I am getting married in less than a month. I actually was getting married off site and have had the worst experience with a lot of my venders over the past couple of months. It got so bad that I cancelled the whole thing and luckily I was still able to book a wedding through DFTW with such short notice. I was able to keep the same date and time of my ceremony so my guests do not have to change any of their plans. The problem now is that I have to plan my whole wedding in about 3 weeks for over 60 guests. I began planning my wedding a year and a half ago down to the very last detail and its so stressful having to redo all of it in such a short time frame. I was asking for people's opinions on floral because I really do not have a lot of time to sit down with my florist and explore all these options. I need to scale my floral back because I lost a lot of money from nonrefundable deposits that I put down for the prior wedding I was planning. I wanted to come in to the planning session with the florist with some ideas of what I want. I really don't want to spend a lot of time selecting my floral because I just don't have the time to do it at this point. I need to budget my time among so many wedding related things in the next 3 weeks. I also think giving my florist some exampls of what I want will also be helpful for her because she has such short notice to create my decor. I posted this questions on the boards because I thought this was a place where soon to be brides and past brides were allowed to help each other out throughout the wedding planning process. My fiance and I are in a very difficult situation and I thought other disbrides might be able to help. I hope you understand. Thanks.

WOW! :scared1: Well that's a whole 'nother ball of wax! I thought we were talking about a preliminary phone meeting at the beginning of the 8-month planning process or something. My hat is off to you for tackling such a huge project in so little time. :goodvibes Now let's see what all of us can come up with to help you out.

Some ideas...

Greenery is always cheaper than flowers.

Those gel cylander thingies are something like $15 apiece - here's a shot of them taken at Atlantic Dance Hall:

Votives would be nice and cheap, and if they can throw a mirror under them you'll get even more bang for your buck:

Gerbera daisies are usually pretty cheap:

I believe these are hydrangeas (cheap!):

And votives floating in colored gel:

Also, the WDW Florist's website has pages and pages of centerpieces (no prices, unfortunately) that might give you some ideas:

I am so glad that DFTW was able to accomodate you!!! They are fabulous to work with. Our floral team was able to keep us within our budget without losing the vision we had. Our floral was moved from our ceremony to our reception which meant we were able to reuse almost everything. We had some carnations used in place of roses and our guests did not notice one bit.

I can't get to our photos from the office but they are posted in this thread

Hey that looks like MY wedding!! I can tell you those go for like $25.

It was $10 for the rental of the glass, $10 for the gel & candles, & $5 for petals sprinkled around the glass at the tables.

Thanks everyone for helping me out! I couldn't believe DFTW was able to acommodate us! We are really excited about everything and Disney seems soooo organized and efficient. We had our planning session over the phone this morning with our planner. I wrote out a list of questions to make sure that I asked her during the phone call and by the time she was finished going over the details of the wedding, I didn't even have to ask any of them! She was so detailed, she went over each and every one of them. My planner was unable to set up a time for the florist to speak with us during the planning session. However, we set up a time for this Monday. These pictures of centerpieces will definitely come in handy. It's great knowing that we do have options for centerpieces that aren't really pricey. Carrie, the pictures of all the centerpieces you sent me look fabulous! We would be happy to use any one of them at our reception! Thanks again, everyone! :goodvibes

YIKES! Starting over at 3 weeks. What a blessing that DFTW is helping you though. :goodvibes

For our centerpieces, I had 6" bubble bowls for $5 each with a rose floating in it for $5. I was also going to have rose petals sprinkled on the tables for $7.50 each. We have since changed to different ones that are $85 each, but also double as favors.

I think the bubble bowl is in the picture with the gerbera daisies that Carrie posted. Cute and cheap at $10 a piece.

I am sure it will all turn out wonderful. :goodvibes

I have never seen ADH so I can't really comment on what would work well in there.

The only idea that I had was something I saw at a bridal show not too long ago. They took a bunch of blooming cherry tree branchs and stuck them in a huge vase and hung little candles off of them. Its was really really cool and really inexpensive. I have a feeling that the disney florist probably charges a bit more - but it could be something worth asking about.

Best of luck planning everything. I can't wait to hear all of the details!!!!
