Floor Plans for AKV Lodge 2 Bedroom Lock-off -SV

I'm not surprised by these floor plans.

I hope most people who have added-on sight-unseen feel the same way. So far all of the sales have been to existing members. It's natural for most people to assume they will be getting a product that is consistent with DVC's developments over the past decade. I hope they aren't disappointed when they find out otherwise.

I wonder how many people who don't browse sites like this even realize that DVC is converting rooms in the Lodge. There's no mention of that fact in the brochure mailed to members.

For those asking if the floor plans in the new building will be different from the existing DVC villas, I think they have to be. Remember that the 1BRs in the new building will have two separate bathrooms (one master, one in the living/kitchen part of the villa). So I'm guessing the master bath will be all in one room, but with the shower stall included. The other bath will probably be similar to a studio bathroom, though with just a single sink to save space.

Did you have a source for that info? I was under the impression that the dual bathroom rumor had been put to rest.

Even if it is still in the cards, I don't recall anyone claiming it would be two FULL baths.

The lack of published info from DVC caused me to ask a lot of questions of my guide before I purchased. And even then, I figured if the info I got from guide over the phone wasn't being published on the website, then it was probably subject to change. DH and I love AKL, so we are happy just being able to stay there for a reasonable number of points/night.

At this point I'm not sure where I got that info. I've read everything I could find on the web re: AKV, and as I said, I asked my guide a lot of questions. I somehow came away with the impression there would be a second bathroom, but I am not able to point to any published info to substantiate that. I apologize for stating the info about the second bathroom as fact -- clearly nothing is guaranteed until we see it published somewhere (and maybe not even then!)

With sales to the general public about to start, I hope they will publish some of this info. I see some changes going on on the website. Yesterday there was an "Accommodations" link on the AKV page that pointed to a non-existent page so I had hopes there would be floor plans available today, but as of this morning, the link is no longer there.

Hey, noticed this in the text you copy and pasted:

Two-Bedroom Lockoff Vacation Home

Is the link active and if it is, and you click on it...what do you get? Can you "transplant" it here?

The links to the floor plans are not working on the website yet. I took the others out when I copied and pasted but missed that one.

Ah well...hopefully very soon!

Thanks, again, for bringing the info over. Looks like they're prepping for "launch"...

Does anyone have the room sizes of the other DVC resorts handy to compare with these? (I'll try to do a search....)

Yes, that is what we were told. Now can you tell me how you added that AKV image to your signature?

Ok, confused about something from the info from the Member site.

It says studios will have one queen bed and one sofa bed. But then it says lock offs will have two queens in the second bedroom. That is not possible.

I guess it (the description) is still a work in progress! Since I bought primarily because the new building will have dedicated 2 bedrooms, with 2 Q's, that's the part that I most want!!

I am not disappointed with the layout of the rooms that are in the present AKL...I'm looking forward to staying there, but most of all I am looking forward to the new building!

I agree, 2 beds in the dedicated second bedroom is very important to us, too.

Which is all well and good for you.

For ME...none of that really worries me or is a compelling reason to not buy in. The rooms "work" for us...they're not optimal, but they're not awful, either. I expected, going in, that there would have to be some "compromises" on the remodels. Heck, I'm surprised (and happy) that the 1 BR's will SHARE a deck rather than having 2 seperate decks. If I was "condemned" (note sarcasm) to stay in that 1 BR floor plan, every year, I'd be fine with that. And if the new rooms in the new building are more optimally laid out, and we can book in one of those as a sure thing...that's great too. I, too, wonder (and have since the announcement) how they'll handle check in, at the two different locations, once the new building is up. But it's not enough of a worry for me to NOT buy AKV.

Remember, too...this is going to be our initial buy in..not an add on. Maybe that makes a difference.
Nope, it doesn't make a difference. We added 200 points at AKC, sight unseen. In MY mind, I've stayed many times at AKL. If the room for DVC are equal to or better than the normal lodge rooms, I'm happy. I couldn't see how they would be anything but equal to or better than so we purchased on Day 1. We absolutely love AKL and I can't imagine that we won't still love it as AKV.

I think, eventually, our family is going to grow into a 2BR "user" too. Right now, with the kids being little, the 1 BR is fine (the 2 girls on the Queen sleeper, our son on the chair). But as they get older...I'm thinking the girls would like (as would our son) their own sleeping space. We'll "work up" to the points needed for that, I guess. I can see that having the dedicated 2 BR would be sorta nice.... Both girls would get their own bed...but I'd be OK with a lockoff, too. I don't think either would "die" (though, with the drama whipped up by our oldest, maybe I'm wrong) if they had to sleep on the convertible.

Now, if we're going to travel with family...the dedicated would almost be a requirement.

See, that's pretty much how we feel, too. We were ready to buy with very little info based solely on the location.

We love AKL. And looking at the rooms (and now reading their descriptions), I'm happy with what we're getting for the next few years, at the very least. Not ecstatic, pie in the sky, jumping up and down happy. But more than happy enough to compel me to write the check to DVC. :)
