Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers today and the weekend. We are predicting near-record flooding due to the 10.5" of rain we have received in the past 48 hours and it's not finished yet. We are expecting another 1-2 inches today. Hurricane Agnes in 1972 had water levels here of 32 feet.....we are predicted to hit somewhere near 30'. Our house is safe and secure and we will not have water in the house, but we will probably not be able to get out for a couple days either. I'm more concerned for our friends and family. Last night we personally lost everything in our shed, all our camping equipment, and our pool. I know it's minor compared to what it could be, but it's still heartbreaking. Of course.....insurance will not cover any of it due to being flood waters.
I'm at work with the police department today trying to get everyone out before the river has her way with the town. I just don't understand the point of refusing to leave your home when the destruction is coming. And then.....expecting emergency personnel to risk their lives to rescue you because you were stubborn. Oh well.....that is life.

Oh, Danielle...I saw the flooding on the news this morning. I'll be thinking of you. So sorry for the losses, but remember "it's just stuff." Hugs

P & PD headed your way...

Yea, stubborn-ness is a bad thing in a time of "you know it's coming, we are warning you"...

Sorry for the loss of the items you have already had.. :(

Sorry to hear about all the flooding. Our girl scout community were supposed to go to Knoebles this weekend but due to the flooding it is cancelled. the pictures were awful. They said it is higher than the 72 flood. Praying for you and your community

will keep your family and community in my prayers, stay safe!
sorry about your losing stuff too, good that your house won't flood.

I don't understand the idiot people either, your life is worth so much more that your "things", if you're told to get out, get out!

UGH!! I'm so sorry Danielle!!

We were just in the Poconos last week at the KOA at Delaware Water Gap. The River was already so high at that point.

we will keep everyone in our prayers. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

That's funny.....we were scheduled to go to Knoebels for my husband's company picnic on Saturday. It's my favorite park apart from Disney. So clean, so family friendly, and reasonably priced and we live less than 30 minutes away. Sadly....Knoebels has been submerged....so that won't be happening.
I gave the totals for where I work in my first post. Where we live....our school is right on the levee. Flood stage there is 19'. Newest prediction will be cresting tonight/tomorrow morning at 31.4'. Agnes crested at 32' with massive devastation. My heart is breaking and there's nothing that can be done but stand back, watch and pray.

:headache::headache::headache: Why do people think I'm kidding when they call and ask if they can get into or out of town and I tell them "No, it's impossible at this point." They want to sit and argue and debate each little road and street. So glad I refilled my migraine medicine last night!

Danielle, prayers for you and your community. Sorry for the loss of your stuff. Please keep safe.

Cassey

Danielle, your family is in my thoughts. Flooding is dangerous. Hopefully people will start taking it seriously. :/

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. My village is still recovering and we will be long while.

So, the flood waters are down and the damage is done. My son's school building will be closed at least through February, but more than likely for the remainder of the school year. The sewage treatment plant malfunctioned when the levy by the school broke, and you guessed it.....YUCK!! Nearly 6' of flood/sewage/fuel in some parts of the building. YUCK AGAIN! They are frantically searching for a place to have the students so school can be reopened, but no word yet. It will take Hazmat certified teams to even enter the school building. I just can't imagine.
All of the items for my oldest son's eagle scout project were stored in our shed and a large portion of it has now become garbage. We were supposed to be beginning the second phase of construction this weekend. That won't be happening this weekend, and probably not anymore this fall. We will need to regroup and begin fundraising again.
Our next-door neighbors lost everything and only returned to the house last night to survey the damage. I think they probably won't be returning. The loss was just too great this time.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and pixie dust. It's nice to be able to share your worries with those who care.

 Danielle, so sorry to hear about the school and your neighbors. hope they can figure out something quickly to get the kids back in school :goodvibes
will you be able to re-do your DS project in time?

Danielle I know we're far away, but, is there anything we can do to help?

Tyler's project probably won't proceed until next spring - at least the actual playground portion. We will be looking at how to replace the materials we have lost and cleaning up the area where the project is to be placed for right now. He has time....he won't be 17 until January, so that gives us next spring/summer/fall to complete it. He is just really bummed because he won't be eligible to earn the service awards that follow eagle because he will be too old to earn them. I know it's not a major problem in the grand scheme of life, but scouting is all he has ever done and to miss these is like being in track and field and knowing you will never make districts/regionals/states. Really disappointing. I also feel bad for the kids at the shelter because they have been waiting so long already, and now another roadblock. Again, not the end of the world, but truly disappointing for kids who don't need more disappointment in their lives.
We got word from the school district a little while ago that they are hoping to have a space for the kids to go back to school by Friday.:banana::banana: Haven't announced where it is yet, but hopefully its somewhere safe.

that's too bad about Tyler's project, hope it will all come together down the road.
good news they can get the kids back in school soon, sure it will help them all have a bit of normal and schedule in their lives right now.
please keep us updated and if there's anything we can do to help out!
