Woke up to a blood curdling scream! My son was screaming that the house was filling with water! :scared1:

NIGHTMARE....

The creek behind my cul de sac flooded over. We only had time to get some stuff up to the second floor, grab some clothes and go. We have a 6 foot fence in the backyard and I only can see about 2 feet of it! :scared:

Luckily my sister has a nearby condo, she's staying with her daughter after surgery.

Looks like we're here for awhile. Lots of people in much worse shape here. A 39yo mother was swept away in Lawrenceville just a few miles away... :guilty:

Update later. :sad1:

I've started my ark..... wanna come help? My friend goes to school at West Georgia and had to come home via I20 and Six Flags. Said they were pacing cars around I 285. We live an hour south of Atlanta proper.

I was watching the weather channel this morning and saw all the flooding that was going on down there. They showed Toccoa falls, how its normally a small stream now looking like a mini niagara falls!

Stay safe!!!!

I saw some of that. Be careful.

Oh my gosh! :scared1: That's so sad!:sad1: I will pray for you and eveyone else there.

Oh dear. Glad you are safe. Hope there isn't too much damage. :flower3:

I live in Marietta. I drove down to Mobile yesterday to be with my mother for a few days. DH called me this morning to say the basement is flooded. Then the school called and told me they were sending everybody home--DD16 says the lower floor restrooms were all flooded! And now they've closed schools for tomorrow. I am very anxious about all this. DH is not well and we rely on school to take care of Christian during the day time(he is very handicapped.) I hope DD16 will be able to help her dad some--she's a good girl, she's cooking supper for them all tonight.

In the meantime I sit here with my mom, both of us worrying. But DH says don't come home. I can't believe this is happening!

Six deaths so far, hundreds of people displaced. My neighbors are all elderly people up to their hips in water...:sad1:

Not just one area, ALL areas of the Atlanta metro area are affected. I live intown near Mercer University. The worse hit areas, I hear, are in Douglas and Paulding counties.

The house in the end of my subdivision is TOTALLY submerged. I just went back to my house to get some items. It's a total mess. :guilty:

We drove through some of that rain last night on our way home from WDW. It was bad. We could barely see anything. I saw four cars that had crashed off of the highway. Scary stuff! Stay safe.

There are 100 roads closed in Cobb county. More rain expected tonight. Thankfully, school is cancelled tomorrow.

How awful, Robin!

We have no idea what it's like near us. DH left the house today and he could see that our lake was way up and the pool was overflowed. I'm not sure if my choir rehearsal is canceled or not tomorrow night at Emory. DH has 2 big doctor's appointments this week and one is iffy, since it's in Austell. I'm afraid for him to attempt to make it in the morning.

I heard some of the deaths are from people driving through the water :sad2:

I dont get why people do that unless they think that is the only way out.

Oh, how awful. Didn't you all go through a drought in recent years? I remember the brown lawns. I can't believe you'd have such horrible extremes, and with such tragic results.

I am so sorry.

Stay safe everyone in the Atlanta area.

After watching the news tonight it brought back memories of the Flood of 1994 down here when Trop. Storm Alberto stalled for days over the area. It was very bad. I hope the rain stops soon.

How scary! I saw this on the weather channel awhile ago.. Hope all of you down there stay safe..

I have friends that were headed from NY back to Florida this past weekend.. Don't know how far they got yet, but I sure hope they're not caught in that flooding.. It looks horrible! :sad2:

It is pretty sloppy here in the Asheville NC area as well. Many of the rivers are well above flood stage and there are some school closings in the surrounding counties. The rain here is not expected to stop until next Tuesday and we could get up to 4 more inches of rain.

I am contemplating building an ark.

Seriously! A friend and I are were wondering today how big a cubit is.

I feel awful for those died, especially the kids. It must have been so terrifying.

I'm in Douglasville in SE Pauding County, just over the Douglas County line. There are several roads closed in both counties and both are under a boil water advisory. Water mains have broken and there are some without water. They have estimated that my area has received about 15" of rain. We have an above ground pool that overflowed so we had a river going through our back yard. Thankfully we have a storm drain between ours and our neighbors yards so it helped. We have not had anything come into our house. THANK YOU GOD!
My DH works in downtown Atlanta but could not get into work becasue of all the closed roads and he may not be able to go in tomorrow. He is able to work from home so that is a blessing.

One of the saddest stories about all this is, a 2 yr.old little boy in Carroll County lost his life. The families mobile home was torn of it's base and he and it was swept away in the water. His mom (holding his 1 yr. old brother)and dad spent 3 hours holding onto tree limbs waiting to be rescued. His body was found severeal hours later. Rest in peace little one. :littleangel:
