Floats in the pool?

Do the resort pools allow any sort of float? We're mainly thinking of the lounge type of float because we saw some that looked like they would be nice for relaxing on while we're in the pool on our honeymoon.

While I'm asking pool questions, what time do they usually close? We're staying at POP if it matters for either question.

Thanks!

From what I've seen on the boards, the only thing allowed is a see-through innertube-type float. But if you think about it, how much space do you think they can allow each guest to take up when you can have over 500 people in a Pop pool at a time? They have 27,000 rooms in just the Disney resorts and if everyone decided to bring a lounge float.... well you get the idea :)
Most theme pools are open till 10 PM and the quiet pools are open after that, but children must be accompanied and must keep the pool quiet.

I'm sure floats aren't allowed in the pools at Disney because they obstruct the view of the lifeguards. Childern could get caught under them and the life quard wouldn't be able to see them. Unfortunately is has happened in the past at other pools.

I've never seen a lounge type float at the pools. It really wouldn't be feasible with the amount of people using the pools. Enjoy your honeymoon! :flower:

Thanks for asking the question. I was curious too as to what time the pools closed and whether you were allowed to bring the clear tubes.

In our experience, it depends on the lifeguards at the pool. One trip we had no issue with using a couple of small tubes for our DD and DS, then the next trip--no way. I've never seen adults using any floaties, though, so pretty sure that's a no-no.

At the WL pool this July, there were no floats, tubes, or noodles of any kind.

:flower: During our stay at Pop Century in May, Noodles were allowed in the pools. They actually sold them right in the gift shop for $4. I saw beach balls too. Back in 2002, at PO Riverside, my DD was able to use a small ring in the pools as well. HTH :flower: Rebecca

Our last trip we saw a kid in some type of floating car. It was definately huge but the lifeguards allowed it. The pool was moderately full/busy but I could see if more people started coming that they would have to take it out.

Your best bet is to get water noodles and the netting you can get that attaches to them to sit on. My dad loves doing this and he's nearing 70. I've seen lifeguards ask people to remove their rafts and pool toys from the pools.

As for the question about children's arm floats, yes they are allowed at most Disney pools. All the pools have life vests the kids can "rent" for the whole week at no charge. You just sign one out. We did that once at POR. Now we just bring our own. We have an infant life jacket that has the head rest to place him on his back if he loses his footing or goes under.
