Does anyone own one?

Opinions? Pros/Cons?

I was looking for a small, handy camcorder and this came up, along with the Jazz camcorder. Despite the fact that it costs half of what the Flip does, I won't buy the Jazz because I didn't like some of the video-reviews I saw.

So, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, this seems great too!

Are you pleased by it?

Ummm...it's wrapped and under the tree. It's a gift for my bro and SIL. I talked to the salesperson at the store and she said that they were getting a positive response to them. The online reviews are good as well. Again, I wanted the option of expandable memory, which the Flips do not offer. I was able to find a 1GB memory card for $6.99 for this, so that helped in my final decision. Wish I could help more! :flower3:

Oh I see! I hope it all goes well and your brother and SIL enjoy it.

I bought one for myself, because I thought it would be easier to carry around for "everyday" stuff (I wouldn't keep my camcorder in my purse, but this I can - it is TINY!) and I can take it into places where I would fear losing/damaging/etc a "regular" camcorder.

In other words, this wouldn't be my camcorder of choice to film the kids with Mickey, but I'd take it on Splash Mountain :D

It was *supposed* to be a Christmas present :rolleyes1 , but I went on a weekend trip last month, and couldn't resist taking it along, to try it out. (my rationale was that if it didn't live up to my expectations, I could exchange it BEFORE Christmas - :rotfl: Yes, I buy my own gifts. DH is happy, I'm happy, life is good :) and I will now put it back in its box and wrap it up - lol )

Anyway, I went to Chicago for the weekend with some girlfriends, and it was perfect. Everyone was pleased with the quality (both video and audio) of the vids, and it was super easy to use. You seriously just...turn it on. It would be a great camcorder for kids, if you're inclined to buy your kids things like this. It's so small, people around me didn't realize I was videoing - it looks like a regular point and shoot digital camera. I was very pleased. I wasn't expecting the quality I get from my expensive camcorder (and I did NOT get that) but I got way better than I expected for what it cost. I'd say it's definitely worth what I paid for it.

I will try to figure out how to link to one of the vids so you can see for yourself. :)
(I know how to post pictures here, but I've never tried to link a vid...)

It's fine. I have one. There are no real "features". I like that is used AA or AAA batteries. Simple tranfer to PC for editing. Like already mentioned, it is best for use where you worry about the safety of a "real" camcorder. I would, however, like to check out the High Def version of it.... that one is about $300.

My dad got one for his grandkids. We've used it a lot and so far we like it. The video quality if you zoom isn't that good but the rest is good for the price. Handy to have when you have lots of little ones around :)

I ordered and received the Flip Mino HD from the Flip site for $229 for DD,13 for Christmas. You can pick from hundreds of designer pattern or design your own! DD picked out what she wished for, and I have it hidden away.

It is so cute and tiny. Smaller than the Ultra, same size as the regular Mino. The presentation of the Flip Mino HD in the box is high end looking, kind of like how an Ipod is packaged. Opens up like a watch box! This model comes with a soft pouch.

Thank you all for your replies.:goodvibes

Wow, thanks for your extensive review! I don't have kids, I'm in uni- it's for me!:rotfl: As you said, I was thinking of getting a camcorder I wouldn't be too afraid of it being lost/damaged etc. .

I hope your DH doesn't get to know the Flip had a little trip to Chicago and then went back under the tree...I promise I won't tell!;)

Yup, I don't mind the lack of features. May I ask how often do you have to change the batteries? I wish it came with a rechargeable battery. The HD model is a bit out of my planned budget.:rolleyes1

I don't have little ones. :rotfl: I want to store memories in film. :) I don't care for the zoom feature too much so that's not a big deal. Thanks for your reply!

Oh that's great! I didn't know that, I will check it out.:thumbsup2
