Flip-flops/slip on sandals on Water Rides?

Just wondering if flip flops or slip on sandals would be OK for water rides at IOA. My teens only have one pair of sneaks and I would hate to have them walking around in wet sneaks for days! I'm worrying they could loose their flip-flops/sandals on the rides? I figure they can wear their sneaks to US but would need flip-flops/sandals for IOA. What do you think?

Flip Flops would be ok on the water rides if someone wants to carry them. They are not good to walk around the park in as your feet will get tired.

For Popeye, what you do is take off your shoes and socks after you get in the raft and put your seat belt on. The message on the loudspeaker will say you need shoes on to ride. But once you get in the raft, if you have your seat belt on, you can put them in the middle compartment and they will stay dry. Guys can also put their shirt in there and it will also stay dry.

For JPRA and Rip Saw falls, your feet don't get that wet, but your shirt will get soaked on Rip Saw Falls.

We always wear our Teva sandals when we go to parks that we know we will get wet. They're good for walking as well!

A good pair of sport sandals are great. My personal favorites are Keen sandals. They are made for lots of walking, so you can wear them all day.

Actually...I have about 5 pairs of these flip flops..and I could walk all day in them and not have tired feet:

Of course - I didn't take them off on Popeye's barge ride and they took a little while to dry out afterwards...but i was drenched head to toe...it took me a while to dry out as well!

Thanks All Turns out my daughter has an old pair of sneaks that she can wear since she finds flip-flops uncomfortable to walk around too long in. My son will just have to wear his slip-on sandals at IOA, I'll just pray he doesn't loose them off his feet!!!

We always bring flip flops in a smal bag and just locker them inside the gate. Since we usually wait until after lunch when it is warmer to ride the water rides, we just go back to the locker and change shoes. After several rides on each ride, we change back into our dry socks and sneakers. The lockers are only 5 or 6 dollars for the whole day and are well worth the money.

Is the rule though you cannot take your shoes off for the water rides? When we went in 2000, we just put the shoes in the central storage or in bags and I was not aware that you had to keep shoes on. I remember we got absolutely soaked on Popeye and Ripsaw Falls.

You have to walk onto the ride and off of with your shoes on. Once you get on the ride you can put your shoes in the center storage.
