Flip flops or tennis shoes?

Although you probably take both, which do you wear more often at WDW?

  • Flip Flops

  • Sneakers (tennis shoes)

  • Neither

sneakers for all of that walking in the parks. Need the support! Then when get to the resort, pull them off and go with the flip flops!

Sneakers are too hot but I wear them anyhow with the lightest socks I can find. If it gets brutal I take the sox off and go naked in the sneaks for the rest of the day. We've gone in Jan so it's not too bad.

I wore my boat shoes to AK last year on our first day and was nearly hospitalized late that night lol. Big mistake. I cant wear flip flops for more than half hour w/o grief.

Need the support of sneakers! Teva's are comfortable for around the house or at the beach but I'd definitely fall if I walked miles at WDW in them.

No matter what the poll shows the best choice for you is to listen to your own feet. Which are more comfortable for you to wear and walk in for 8+ hours straight?

Last trip 12 days and did not even bring sneakers, :cool1:

I LIVE in my flops and LOVE them....I wear TRAPS thong style, come in lots of colors, have arch, cushioned, OH so cool to wear and COMFY too! Just love them! They sell at QVC too, easy breezy..and just PERFECT for me...I LIVE in them from about mar-sept...:rotfl2:

Flips flops, all the way! :)

It's intersting -- once you wear Flip Flops (or any sandals, for that matter) for an extended period of time, you simply cannot wear sneakers; they feel way too restricting!

We're going again in January to WDW and I think I'll fight with all of my strength to keep the trend going -- maybe I'll just wear socks, too ;)

I like both. I wore mostly flip-flops on my last trip in July but they ended up rubbing against my feet a lot in the front and I always had to wear bandaids. Then I switched to sneakers. When it's hot it's nice to wear them but make sure to get comfy ones. I might try the croc type ballet flats this summer too.

Well, my Tevas should be here anyday. I'm packing them, my sneakers and my Rainbows.

I live in flip flops year round, but I also don't walk 400 miles in them, lol..

I think I'll probably be in the flip flops most often, but I'm taking the sneakers just in case.

Thanks all!

I'm a tennis shoe person and have walked miles on various vacation in them. This will be our first trip to the world but I wore them in DL. So I plan on wearing them next trip too.:yay:

Before my last trip (Sept/Oct '08), I wouldn't think of wearing anything but sneakers. I just couldn't be convinced that my feet wouldn't be killing me if I wore something else.

But last trip, I decided to try wearing my flip flops one morning. I was in heaven. My feet didn't hurt (any worse than if I had sneakers on) and I felt sooooo much more free without socks on! My feet weren't all sweaty. I had on Joe basic flip flops from Cabela's, too. Nothing fancy, nothing too expensive.

Used to think that you should wear sneakers because of all the walking... but then I decided to wear what I'm comfortable in. I wear Lands End sandals everyday- I have a couple different pairs. I'd never wear those flip flops with the thing between your toes- uggh! I love wearing sandals on the rides- like Soarin' where you have to leave your shoes on the ground! It makes it so much better!

In the parks I have to wear tennis shoes! Sorry guys I don't care how "comfy" crocs are, they look stupid and you'll never catch me in them!

I said the same about crocs..unfortunately I don't wear them for fashion. They are the only thing these days that absolutely do not kill my feet .I have SEVERE plantar fascitis( Like I should probably have surgery).Until you are walking around with that pain everyday and you can barely walk, never say never. My podiatrist recommended crocs alternated with my danskos. Both aesthetically unappealing. But hey, I can work 10 steps without wanting to cry.

Hmm.... plantar fascitis. Never heard of that before. Had to google it and... I have those symptoms!

I am standing and walking on a concrete floor in heavy leather steel-toe boots all day long for 8-10 hours.

I learned something today!

Flip flops for comfortable short walks, not for distance.

We usually go in the summer, so there's no way I'd wear sneakers - I'd die from heat exhaustion. I usually go with some hard core sandals, but end up in flip-flops when we go back to the parks in the evenings.
