I have beaded type flip flops that I normlly wear with sundresses..would this bo ok for the 3 day cruise? I know one day wil be pirate night...so can I do jean capris for that night as well? We are doing land before, so I would hate to pack dressy shoes to only wear one night

The only requirement is that you wear shoes of some sort...flip flops meet that requirement. I don't pack dress shoes at all--black sandals can substitute for dress shoes for women; black tennies can do it for guys--especially the younger ones!

Your capris will be fine. Seriously, I think people stress too much about what is OK for what nights. I'm convinced that the people who worry about it are the ones who would be making good choices anyhow.

What's not in the dress code that you should consider--cover your body--no one wants to see "private parts" popping out in the dining room. If my teen would find a 50 year old's outfit to be too revealing, it probably is. This is DIsney, not Carnival. I'm not aiming this at your personally....I've just seen some UNREAL outfits in the dining rooms that DD has commented upon.

Our DD 11 wore black flip flops with her sundresses to dinner and even once on formal night. Her good shoes broke at the last minute and that was all she had that would match. No one said a thing and it really did not look bad all. That being said, they were not the kind she would wear to the beach - they were clean and dressy.

The tackiest outfit I ever saw on DCL was a noticeably pregnant woman dressed in a Snow White costume - I could not believe my eyes!!! :sad2:

Thanks.. I just would hate to over pack since we will be gone for 2 weeks for 1 pair of shoes..They are beaded and nice, but I could get more wear ou of them compared to "dressier" sandals that are less confortable.

That is what I do.

Beaded flipflops are just fine! Seriosuly no one really notices what other people are wearing. I cant tell you what anyone wore in the dining room on our last cruise! Have fun!

I personally don't like the idea of flip flops in the dinning room, but that is just my opinion. What matters is what you want you to do. Would you care if people gave you mean looks? Would you care if someone said something to you? If yes, then reconsider. If no, then go for it. It is your vacation too and you deserve to enjoy yourself.

I pretty much LIVE in my flip-flops (a hazard of being a Floridian...when I go back to Chicago to visit, I can barely stand wearing 'real' shoes), and in all our Disney cruises I have never felt uncomfortable wearing them in the dining rooms. For Palo, I switch to dressier sandals.

I wore flip flops every evening with my sundresses on our 7-night cruise, except on formal and semi-formal night.

I've been thinking alot about what to wear on our first cruise in September and I think I'm comming to the conclusion that as long as I'm not scantily clad, and as long as my clothing is clean and not all ratty/baggy looking, I should be fine.

So I will bring along some nicer looking jeans/capris and some casual sundresses and probably some sandles too. I'm not bringing a ball gown or anything, we're only going for 3 nights after all.
Plus I don't have room in my suitcase to lug 3 days worth of "fancy" clothing all the way from BC, Canada (they charge for checked bags you know, lol).
Plus I'll have a lot of casual clothing for our 4 day WDW trip after the cruise!

DCL has getting more and more casual over the years, and I suspect the luggage charges are accelerating that. If you fly Southwest, you still have to "dress up" since they're one of the few who doesn't charge. ;)

I personally would not wear them in the dining room, not because I see them as inappropriate, but because I think I may be one of the few people who just doesn't find them comfortable. Anyways, I say wear what you are comfortable and happy with and don't worry about what other people may think. If anyone says anything, ask them why they were staring at your feet in the first place.

Honestly if anyone had the GALL to say something to anyone because of what type of shoes they were wearing- I'd have to tell them to get over themselves! LOL

I agree... ask them why they aren't enjoying their time on the cruise instead of worrying about what people wear on their feet!

With that said- my most comfortable shoes are flipflops. I wore my crocs ones (solid black) most nights with slacks type material dressy capris/blouse- and even one formal night (out of a few -15nt cruise) I wore beaded flipflops. No one batted an eye- as it should be. :)

I am truly shocked at the thought that other ADULTS would behave in this way!:scared1: Are there REALLY people on a Disney Cruise that would give people 'mean looks' and say something to you based on what you are wearing!! - That is what I call RUDE - NOT someone choosing to wear comfortable footwear to dinner!!!:sad2:

I agree with all of this. Plus, for us personally, we got a little more casual with each cruise (other than formal night).

Many people, of all age ranges wear flip flops in the dining rooms :) And, there are some very dressy flip flops. Matter of fact, DCL sells some of the 150 dollar crystal ones in Treasure Ketch.

I think this is just another case of overthinking cruise attire. I cant tell you for the life of me what anyone other than myself was wearing on my feet on out last cruise.....Wait a minute, I cant even remember what I wore......lol

I brought and intended to wear dressy sandals (heels) for dinner with black slacks, but after walking around the parks for a few days before our cruise my feet & ankles swelled and I couldn't do it. So I wore black flip flops to everything but Palo dinner. I think that worked out fine and will plan to do it again :)

I have a bunch of Eliza B flip flops, which I think are a little dressier than some others and I wear them all the time with skirts and dressy capris...I probably wore them more than any other shoes on our cruise, including to the dining rooms.

No one is going to say anything to you about what you wear on your cruise. The major stressing about attire on DCL happens, me thinks, mostly on the boards, with people worried a little too much about what other people will think.

Seriously, just don't show up to dinner in a soaking wet bathing suit with a towel wrapped around your waist and you will be fine.
