We are planning on going to Disney in late January from Toronto. We are looking at Westjet flights. Should I buy the flights now or wait to buy closer? It's about $500 each. My understanding is that the more they sell the more the price goes up. Any thoughts from experienced disers? :thanks:

We flew out of Toronto last January on Westjet and paid just a little over $300 each. Our kids flew out the last Tuesday of January on AC and paid a tad less than $300 each. I keep every single conversation I have with the kids so i scrolled back and discovered we all booked our flights around the middle of July. My son used an app that alerted him to when flight prices were the best, I'll ask him later what the NAME of that app is if you'd like? I know there were flight sales that popped up off & on with flights being around the same price. It's a not a game for the weak at heart, that's for sure! We always set a ballpark figure we would be happy at and when it comes close to that we book it and then stop looking so we don't get upset if it drops :P

Have you used Google Flights to get flight prices before? I just did a quick search and found some direct flights on AC for mid $300's in late January. It makes it super easy to compare prices and compare the cost of traveling on different days.

P.S. I am envious of that price, because direct flights from Calgary are like three times that much.

Not sure where you live but have you looked into flying out of Buffalo? We just booked our flights for the last week of January a couple of weeks ago and 4 of us are flying there and back, non-stop flights for $700 USD. Right now that converts to under $900 CAD for 4 people. Depending on your situation, might be worth a look. But I have always found that flights get more expensive the closer it gets to the travel date.

Thanks for the reply's. I'll have to look into Buffalo. Maybe the flights I'm looking at out of Toronto are more expensive because we are looking for Saturday flights.
Donald - my hero if you can let me know the name of the app that would be great.

I found Google Flights very good for assessing options https://www.google.ca/flights/

Easy to put in roughly what you are looking for and play around with it until you get some that works.

Im seeing multiple direct options at $384 from TO to MCO and 1 stop at $300
Buffalo is around $220 to $270 direct depending on the dates

Its not perfect but I find its a good starting point
