Hi looking at flights for next August to orlando for 21 days. The best prices so far are direct Virgin 3,500 odd (2 adults 2 kids ...14...12) so four adults
indirect American airways 1 change chicago i think £2745
Please all you experts can you offer opinions etc on these
these are both Opodo

also Thomas Cook direct £3400 think this is virgin Im really confused and would love some help!

We have various options for accomaodation not sure which we'll go with

Mmm Im getting more confused the more i search just got great price (£1500 odd for all of us) flying LHR to Jacksonville but the stopover seems to be for 6 hours...headache time!

Well Im sure chicago is delightful (now i know where it is ...I thought it waswest coast!)but Im not sure a 6 hour stopover is going to be conduisive to a good holiday there is a limit to how ling even teenegers can spenmd on ipods etc so really any help would be appreciated x

6 hrs is a long time to spend at an airport, we did it once- 7 hrs in washington with 3 young kids, what a nightmare
have you tried the charter flights? as going for exactly 21 days you might be able to get a good package deal-do you know what type of accomodation you want? villa/hotel?
try first choice, monarch etc
sure someone will be along with more info!!

Thanks .we are fancying onsite with free dining possibly with a few days at a universal hotel to end the holiday. We've done all sorts of combinations in the past villa at highland reserve/value disney/villa anna maria island/universal hotel. But they were all a good few years back when kids were smaller. Cant really afford it but we lost my Dad this year and havent had a holiday abroad for so long so we're just thinking to heck with it !

personally if I was saving over a £1000 I would go for the long stop over, we have done it before, no worry if flight is late landing plenty time to get through immigration and you can go for a meal. Mind you I am a meanie and would rather have the money to spend on the holiday.

I would never do a connection of less than 2 hours, so you're looking at an extra four hours.

To save £250 an hour, you BET I'd be taking the longer stop over. Unlike some, I am yet to cultivate a magical money tree...

You could even book an airport hotel, get a shower, take a nap etc. in that time if you wanted. We did 5 hours at Miami last year and it was fine - we had a drink, a meal, watched the news, went for a walk etc.

For us, price is everything. So much so that we're doing New York rather than Orlando next year.

We are going via Chicago next July, but only 3 hour changeover .
Like pp said if its saving you a £1000 why not, and as said, by the time you do immigration, some food it will pass pretty quickly

Have you considered charter flights e.g First Choice which are direct and therefore eliminates the hassle of stopovers?
We are also going for 3 weeks in August, and booked 3 premium flights (back in Aug'10) for £2500.
