We are hoping to get a 2 bedroom at HHI at 7 months for end of May/beginning of June. I started looking for flight options and see that many flights from MSP involve smaller planes (e.g. NWA has a nonstop but it is a 50 seat plane). I have never flown in a smaller plane and am a little afraid of motion sickness in a small plane for a flight of about 3 hours. Anyone else fly these small planes to SAV?

Hi Jean. I think you will be Ok in a 50 seater. I have flown in as small as a 6 seater (wouldn't recommend that for motion sickness), but a 50 seater is pretty stable. Think of it like a bus and how the back rows are shakier. I would make sure you sit on the wing or forward. The best place is about 1/3 of the way back. (looks like that aero-engineering degree is coming in handy)

Edit: This is of course for a jet. If you get a turo prop, seating recommendation remains the same. REALLY avoid the last row. But in a turbo prop with propellers you will get a lot of vibrations. Not sure if that would trigger your motion sickness.

Hope this helps. But I would take dramamine just in case, better to be safe...

I agree with Mary.

I put the info in and clicked on equipment and it said it was a CRJ or canada regional JET. I can have trouble with motion too, but have flown these with no problems. They are like any other size plane in that if there isn't turbulence they are very smooth.

Thanks for the hopeful info! We will be having a baby on this trip (along with the accompanying paraphernalia) and being able to fly nonstop will simplify things greatly.

We've flown these small planes many times into Savannah (many times to many places in general). Although I tend to have a pretty motion-sensitive stomach, these planes have never bothered me.

That's a relief. I tend to get car-sick and sea-sick and don't want to add air-sick to my list of ailments!
