This is Long, but you might want to read it. We just got back from a last minute quick trip to the World. Pandoraland and Flights of Passage were tops on our list, so this past Friday morning, we headed to AK and entered the park around 7:15 am. The Park wasn't scheduled to open until 8, though like everyone else, we headed straight towards Pandorland. It wasn't long after we got to the Tree and made the left turn that we ran into the masses of people who arrived before us. After waiting for 30 minutes or so, the line began to move. It stopped a few times, but we finally got into the Flights of Passage ride queue, and the wait time at that point said 120 minutes.

I thought that sounded long, but what the heck, this ride was the ONLY reason we went to AK to begin with. We progressed through the queue relatively quickly until we got to the Lab room where the line completely stopped. It took at least an hour to get through the room. We checked our phone and the wait time had been changed to 4 hours and 40 minutes. We spent another hour in the last room, and we had just arrived at the point where the FP and Stand-by lines merge. We were the next group to go into the final portion of the line when the Fire Alarms went off and the lights came on. We were told to leave immediately. A cast member escorted us through a back stage area and back to the park. Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME. We waited over 2-1/2 hours, got no sorry for the inconvenience, no fast pass, no nothing. I was told by an AK cast member (who is a personal friend) later, that if we had just gotten past the FP/SB merge point, we would have probably received FP's. We arrived at the park at 7:15 and we were escorted out of the attraction at 10:15.

I was told by that same cast member, that the attraction has 3 theaters like Soarin. One of the theaters from the very beginning hasn't worked properly, because it over heats and keeps setting off alarms. I was told that it is a multi-million dollar problem, that they're going to have to close the entire attraction down for several months to fix. They're having problems with a 2nd theater, but it still continues to work most of the time. The 3rd Theater is working fine. The attraction stayed down until 3 PM, as we were leaving the park and heading to EPCOT. On Saturday we went to the MK, which was our final day. I'm completely disgusted with Pandora, AK and Disney.

Sorry bout yer luck there fella, but they gotta work the bugs out at some point. It's all brand new, problems are going to come up. Email or call Disney and complain. Won't do you any good at this point, but it'll at least let them know you're upset.

Just think, there was still 4 hours of people waiting behind you when the alarm went off as well, you're not the only one that got told to leave due to a fire alarm.

With a 4 hour line, a ride shutdown and FPs fully out for the day, giving out anytime FPs for FoP simply cannot happen. They could have taken them to a separate waiting until the ride opened again. However, there is no mathematical situation to be able to give out 4,000 FPs (assumes it can funnel 1,000 riders per hour).

Going to Guest Services is a way to go. However, I do not see how they could give a FP to FoP.

You should have gone straight to guest services and requested an anytime FP to use when the ride eventually reopened.

I agree. In my experience, handing out anytime FP for a ride when you've waited in line and it breaks down is standard procedure. I would e-mail guest services and let them know your experience. If this is an ongoing problem, they need to figure out how to deal with waiting guests when the ride goes down.

I can understand handing out FP's if a ride has broken down, but even though they were fairly certain what the problem was, an actual fire alarm was going off. If there is a risk of fire I'm fairly certain nobody should have been holding up people leaving the building handing out FP's, CM's would be instructed to get people out of the building as quickly as possible surely.

Last time we got anytime FP (FEA) they were good for like 30 days.

Conversely, even if they didn't issue FP for FoP, they should have done something to make up for it...FP for something else etc.

I agree with this. Disney should offer FP's or something when people take precious time (hours!) out of their park schedules waiting for an attraction that ultimately shuts down. There should be something offered for the time and aggravation. I'm surprised they didn't automatically do this for your group since they seem to do this a lot!

I feel your pain.

We went through something similar, if not worse, when Test Track first opened. That ride went down constantly. But at least they handed out return passes that were good for whenever the darn ride was working again. It was good for everyone in your party (I had an old one that I found that we finally used 2 years ago.)

The longest we waited for that ride was almost 3 hours. I would never, ever do that again.

What you should have done was demand a paper fast pass for the ride to use in the future.

I was at AK on Friday too and FoP came back up around 3:00 pm, not 8:00 pm. We had an FP+ for 12:00-1:00 and went back later in the evening to use it.

I will say though that I was not impressed with how the cast members handled FoP being out of commission. This attraction builds to 2+ hours first thing in the morning, people had been waiting for hours before it went down, and some had formed a line outside of the stand-by entrance in anticipation of it going live again. While a plethora of managers were milling about, one cast member, in particular, did nothing but scream at the people who had formed their own queue, "This is not a line! You need to move! Now!" I was pretty shocked because she was screaming it at those people. That left a sour taste in my mouth.

It sucks for sure. But, honestly, getting into the FOP standby line at this point and time is not something I would have done in the first place. With the type of money one spends on Disney tickets, there is no attraction that is worth a 2-4 hour wait. Even if it's a once in a lifetime trip, a visitor could experience a half dozen or more other attractions in that amount of time. For a frequent visitor, it makes even less sense.
