Can anyone here give me any advice on who to book flights with at the end of february?? Last minute trip and just looking for a great deal for 2 adults and 2 kids...closest airport is Toronto..thanks

West Jet and Air canada have fantastic seat sales on right now. Check it out ... flights are as low as $149/ticket

Also call them vs online ... we got a deal and kids are flying free. Be sure to ask them

Check out flying from Buffalo.

I just got roundtrip flights for $79 each way and the taxes are a lot cheaper than TO

www.southwest.com

thanks! I would never have thought about calling vs online. I would prefer to fly out of toronto. Who did u end up booking with??

I think you will find that the majority here uses BUF and other US airports. Once you try it once I doubt you would ever use YYZ again.

Just an example for you.....it is pretty easy to get flights out of BUF for $79-$89 each way. The taxes from BUF to MCO are approx $27rt...the taxes from YYZ to MCO are approx $149rt. So just on taxes alone the savings of using BUF are what wins people over. Aside from the money issue you will have the option of several non stop flights every day. I am going to Orlando for March Break and only booked 5 days ago. We got 2 non stop, roundtrip flights, mid day, for $418 US....that's everything in. We are flying SW and there are 4 ns flights per day plus 4 or 5 other flight to chose from and that's only one carrier.

Jetblue has flights to Orlando from Buffalo, if you leave on Feb 23rd a Weds at $89 bucks, coming back the following Weds March 2nd for $89 for a total of 4 it would be
$797.60 including taxes, and there is no baggage fee. We drive from Northern Ontario and it is 6 hours to Toronto and still choose to drive to Buffalo because of the taxes alone! Good luck!

Check with Sunwing and Transat, they have some really good round trip rates from Toronto to Orlando. Have fun! :)

I had been checking flights out of Pearson and Buffalo for a month and got fed up and just booked Air Canada out of Pearson (30-40mins from my home). There was no BIG deal out of Buffalo when I looked and I like Air Canada and got it for $1200 for 3 people, not bad, not the best but again I like Pearson and its close and its booked, I hate not having teh flight booked when everything else was booked.

At least now with everything booked, you can start looking forward to your trip. Have a great flight and enjoy your trip!

You did well on your airfare. The best you can usually do from YYZ is in the $350-$400 mark.

Unfortunately, it's still more than double what it costs from a US airport. I actually find that a really sad situation. I feel like I'm forced to take my money to the US in order to fly someplace. I would much prefer to keep my money at home but if I had to pay $400+ per ticket for a flight I would most likely only go on vacay about every 18 months or more. I'm lucky that even years ago before I found out about BUF I had friends working for a couple of airlines. I got many passes that cost me as little as $50.

People keep saying they get these great deals out of Buffalo but I just don't see it, atleast not for the dates we need to go. Air Trans is $1678 US for the 3 of us, Jet Blue is $1777 US, Southwest is $1690 US.
So going out of Buffalo is not always cheaper. Sure if they are having a seat sale it would be cheaper but I am very happy with my $1200 with Air Canada out of Pearson. And Air Canada has nice planes with bigger seats, the American airlines are not as nice. Just make sure you check ALL airlines, both out of Pearson and Buffalo.

You have to stalk the US sites a little to get the jist of it. There are patterns as to when you get the best deals. Often it is the day that a new group of dates are released. I generally don't book more than about 2 months in advance. I just booked my air to MCO for March Break and I am paying the most I have ever paid...by a fair bit too. Our tickets are $210 per person including taxes. I usually pay about $130-$140 per person. Once I got tickets for $112 and that was only 2 weeks before the departure.

I always check YYZ but it's never even worth the 5 minutes that it takes to look. Plus, there are at least 6 times the number of flight options from BUF. I can fly any time of day that suits my schedule.

Got good flights today with AC$638 for 2 of us return in Feb for 9 days...Jetblue was over $800. We never fly from Buffalo anymore in the winter since a couple of lousy experiences...
:confused3

This morning I booked flights for the March break leaving March 12th returning March 19th from Youngstown, Ohio to St. Petes Clearwater with Allegiant for $44.00 one way or $124.37 rt incl taxes. For the 4 of us it cost $497.48. I checked Sunwing from Perason since they flight into St.Petes/Clearwater as well and it was over $2700 for 4 tickets. Just crazy ridiculous especially for March break. Take a carry on bag for the week and opt for open seating so we don't pay the extra fees. I have teenagers so not a big deal if we don't sit together.

We ended up booking out of buffalo. it was 676 for four of us return. Westjet out of TO wanted 2800 and AC 1700 so it was a no brainer. Havent done it before so we will see how it goes! I swore I would never book out of buffalo but that is a huge difference!

To the PP who is flying marchbreak. who did u book with and what dates did u use? I checked for my sister and it was still insane!

Curious what your lousy experience was?

Oh please don't get me wrong..I really enjoy flying in and out of Buffalo. But when they get bad weather ..it's really bad. One time we were in Fla for a week in Feb and came home to a car frozen solid. They had had freezing rain and the car was encapsulated in ice. The shuttle just dropped us and left..had we not had remote start to start the engine and therefore the thawing process..not sure what we would have done. So we started it..and brushed the superficial snow off..and waited....finally we were in. Sat there for another 15 mins or so...started the wipers ..they snapped off. Fortunately, it wasn't snowing or raining...so we were able to drive home without needing to use them. Not fun. We flew in and out again last month to see our daughter in NYC. Going there was a delay with Jetlbue..5+ hours...not their fault, high winds in JFK...we came home 24 hours later..car was under 3 feet of snow and the highway was closed. Took us 4.5 hours to get home to Oakville.

For us, the precarious weather probabilities just aren't worth it in the winter months. I don't need to worry about anything else..:confused3

Are these direct flights or are there stops? I want to book direct flights for our trip in November but when I'm looking at the sites it seems to tell me that there are no direct flights, only flights with one or more stops....maybe I'm doing something wrong!? :confused3
