So just been to the travel expo and got flights for the 4 of us Canberra to LA Return flying virgin for $5790! only problem is we now nave 3 Extra days to fill We had to leave a day earlier and come back two days later....oh well. Now off to rework our itinerary to fit in 3 extra days!

Leaving 22sept returning 14th Oct. Like I said we had to juggle the days slightly. I'm very happy with those prices.

We got there when it opened, plenty of people at the exhibitors but we just went straight down to the flight centre terminals and got the girl to look it all up for us as we already knew what we wanted.

Didn't book any accommodation, although we could have, but with the 3 extra days we had to work out where we wanted to have them so didn't want to make any snap decisions. It was sooo busy I was already feeling overwhelmed so just got the flights, that's all went for really anyway.

I am looking at similar dates, Sept. 20-Oct 12 and also with VAus. to Orlando. Would like to fly over economy and back premium. When do you have to have it paid by? Canberra is generally expensive to fly out from, so I think that you got a great deal.
Did Qantas have any deals? My husband is a Qantas Club member and that may sway us to Qantas, however, we really enjoyed VAust last time to LAX.

Qantas did have deals, I have a flyer but it doesn't have Orlando on it, only LA, Dallas/Fort Worth & New York. Qantas has deal on premium economy ATM too.

The qantas to LA best specials were on the flight via Brisbane and the Qantas guy said that the Brisbane Expo was yesterday and it went off so he wasn't sure how many seats were left!

We have to pay by Wed to guarantee those prices!! but we have the money ready to go.

We are going to the Sydney Expo next weekend hoping to pick up some cheap flights. We're hoping to travel Sept 15 - Oct 7 which are close to your dates so I was very excited to read about your deal

Do you mind me asking - was that 4 adult tickets? Our DS is 15 so he flies as an adult - was just wondering what the adults ticket price was?

Hey Guys, I'm not exactly upset by the 3 extra days it'll give us some more time with all the driving we are doing so some can be at a slower pace which is good, as well as fit in more shopping!!

Andona - The price was for 2 adutls 2 kids, the adult price was around $1629 I think and 75% for kids, so that bought it down on average for us. Qantas was a bit cheaper but the seats were very limited. That's from Canberra too so if it was just from a major city it would have been less.

Have a look on the Qantas site, we just booked some cheap PE tickets via Dallas to Orlando, my dates are similar. They are having a sale. The Domestic leg is Ecomony, but Dallas is a lot closer to Orlando than LA.

If you cant snag a good return PE fare, then I think Virgin is your best best for comfort.

Please, someone, anyone tell me ANZ is better and that I should be happy.....I dont want to tell DH...he thinks I'm a legend re airfares...I now have trip anixety.

Peak christmas season tends to kick in 1st/2nd week of Dec and last until 2nd week. This year it starts 10 Dec. So if you can depart by the first week of dec you will get a discount fare. Any later and it will be a real surprise to see a discount.

Thanks, I'm heading to the Travel Expo in Sydney this weekend - looking for Sept/Oct fares to LA. AirNZ have come down in price in the last few days, but they've halved their baggage allowance since we last flew with them. If I can't get a deal for our dates with VA or Delta I'll book with Air NZ again, we had great flights with them in the past. All of this deal hunting is starting to get to me - I just wanna buy the d**n tickets!!

Liz, I feel your pain!
I spent ages this afternoon looking at Cheaptickets, Bestflights, Qantas, Kayak, Skyscanner, Zuji blah blah blah trying to find optimal tickets for our trip so that I can go to the Travel expo wth all the info at my fingertips!

We are also tossing up about using our Qantas FF points to buy one "Any Seat" award and pay for the other two seats - but if I can get a really good deal with Virgin or Delta then we'll have to decide whether to pay a bit more and save our points for another day.... I have a headache from considering the options.

Add to that the trouble I'm having trying to decide between going through LA or Dallas and I reckon I'll be basket case before the weekend.

Aussie Karen - right now I envy you because you already have your tickets - no matter HOW much they cost you

Dh and I have been doing lots of reading and research and talking about what we'll do here and there etc BUT until I have those plane tickets it just won't feel REAL!

We pick up our tickets tomorrow!! Now I'm impatient to pick our seats I have to make that leap and commit to an itinerary and book some accommodation! Eeeek! I just can't decide.
