Flights and prices for Dec Air Tran AA United...?

I am in Canada, we are driving to POrtland Maine to fly out from there Dec 6th. I've been hoping to have the Air Tran rate at $79 each way. It was this price last week. Now, just my luck, is at $107 one way. We are very budgeted this trip, so I was just wondering if you experienced travelers can predict that this is just the ups and downs of flight travel, and it has a very good chance of going back down, or if it might stay here? I've seen it at this price before... about a month ago.
Also, most of the other airlines were lower than what they are now. Just wondering why they all just hiked up their prices?

We can't afford our flights for another 3 weeks, so Im just holding my breath here. I will never let our flight tickets go so close to our departure...lesson learned. BUT! for now, I need some input!

On this page there is a reference to a $25.00 Airtran coupon. If I remember, it is on the first page of the thread. It will tell you how to receive a $25 coupon. Read the whole thread. It will give you a lot of ideas about how to use the coupon and how to obtain the coupon. If you book each segment of the trip as a seperate trip, you could utilize more coupons. Travel is until Dec. 18th.

Of course we had already booked the flight before I found this thread. But I will be looking for coupons for future trips.
