Anyone fly from Texas to Vancouver for an Alaskan cruise through Disney?

Which airline did they use? What was your experience like?

We are going on a DCL Alaskan cruise this summer. We booked our air through DCL. We won't know about our flight until right before our cruise. I was wondering what everyone else's experience was like.

TiA for all of your help.

Doing an Alaskan cruise this June on NCL southbound from ANC to VAN and booked our own airfare. We are flying from BOS to ANC via SEA and back from SEA to BOS, we are driving from VAN to SEA and spending a night there. NCL wanted $1100 each and I was able to get it for $380 each on JetBlue. So be sure to check for airfare on your own if you are not already locked in.
Some people cruising out of VAN fly to SEA and drive, train, or bus it up to VAN depending on prices and their prefered airline.

The cruise lines could put you on any airline.

Be sure to check out cruisecritic.com , hope it's ok to mention that. They have a number of boards including an Alaskan board

and a Disney Cruise Line Board

They also may have a Roll Call for you cruise where you can converse with others that are going on your cruise

There is also a West Coast Dept board

The message board layout is pretty much the same as here on DISBoards so it should be easy to figure out.

Hope it helps

I'm really looking to see which airline Disney uses out of Austin, TX, going to Vancouver.

Thanks.

Disney will most likely use any airline or combination of airlines to get you there and back, they probably do not have a prefered airline. Most, if not all cruise lines, use which ever airline they find has the cheapest fares with times that work for your cruise.

To narrow it down from Austin fire up Orbitz etc and do a search for the days you need to fly. Disney will pick from those airlines. You may even fly to VAN on one airline and back on another.

See how much Disney is charging you for the flight and see what Orbitz came up with, it can be much cheaper booking airfare on your own. Some cruise lines don't charge a a lot more then the airlines, some charge a ton. My flights would have been $1400 more if I went through the cruise line. That savings can more then pay for a lot of shore excursions etc in Alaska.

I just tossed July 27th into kayak, Dallas to Vancouver BC, and got a flight (one way) for $185. That's amazing.

Some people who want to make it more of vacation (and sometimes bring down the cost) will fly into Seattle, and then train, bus, or drive the 3+ hours up to Vancouver. That takes more vacation days and hotel money, though.

Do be aware that if you book it separately, you are responsible for making the connection between the plane and the ship. Don't book too close a connection and do have a contingency plan. Some travel insurance will cover missed connections. Review any policy carefully.

I checked prices, and am OK w/ what Disney is charging. We are flying in a day early. All it would take is 1 delay to miss the boat. We chose Austin, b/c it was cheaper than Dallas.

We should know our flight arrangements in a couple of months. I was just curious.

Always a good call flying in a day early. Glad the Disney prices are good for the flights. You can always give Disney Cruises (or your TA) a call now and then to see if they have your airline info. They may already have it and just haven't shared it with you yet.

Have a blast and be sure to check out those cruisecritics forums if you haven't done so already, lots of great info.
