Flight times change, does National price?

Has anyone had a problem with National when your flight times have changed. Has your flight ever been 3 or 4 hours late and when you returned the car you were charged a different rate because you did not have for the entire time you rented the car for?

I ask because I am worried about our arrival time. We are flying in on Thanksgiving day. If our flight is 1 hour late, we will not make the weekly rate requirment. I don't want to get to the garage and be charged for 4 days instead of the weekly 5 day rate. I always take my printouts, so that may help. If I'm late picking the car up, though, I don't think they would matter. Or would it?

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Unless it comes in on a different day, they should be used to dealing with delayed flights.

A 4 day reservation with a one day free coupon (not sure if it's blacked for holidays) is usually about the same as a weekly rate. Even if you don't make a second reservation check the rates and it it works out print the quote.

We had such an experience last January. Our flight from O'Hare to MCO was delayed about 8 hours. There was no problem getting a car, but our reservation was for a time period which just (barely) qualified for a weekly rate (this requires a 5-day minimum rental using the car rental standard of a 24-hour period from time of pick-up being one day). When we picked up the car so late in the day, the rate that came up on the computer had reverted to a daily rate x 4 days and was actually higher by about $20. I explained to the agent why we were so late and she played with the computer to adjust the daily rate so that our now 4-day rental would cost the same as our original "weekly" booking. All this took about 3 extra minutes at the counter (I was not then an EC member, so I was dealing with a counter agent rather than the agent when you drive out).
