Flight Suggestions?

Right, so we're trying to go ahead and get the flight squared away for our 11/30-12/7 trip and I'm looking for suggestions. Normally, we'd go through Southwest but they don't have their stuff available this far out. JetBlue apparently simply doesn't do direct flights from DC to Orlando (EVERYTHING does a long layover in NYC or Boston. Because reasons.) I'll WALK to Orlando before I use Frontier again. And (Insert your United joke here).

So, suggestions if one is trying to book one adult, one senior this far out from the trip?

Are you looking for direct flights, or non stop flights? You indicate "direct", but that means the plane will stop somewhere but you will not have to change planes.

Non stop flights if the preference. I'll TAKE Direct, but I'd prefer not to. Basically we're trying to avoid layovers

Have you priced out flights? Are you set on using Soutwest or JetBlue? What prices are you finding?

We're pricing things out right now. We'd prefer to use Southwest or JetBlue, simply for the prices. (We're both former military and he's retired, so being able to use those discounts is helpful.)

What we're finding for mid tier prices is around $230 for direct/non-stop. (Except for JetBlue, who is all over the freaking place for their prices that all include layovers in NYC and/or Boston)

Southwest is supposed to open up their next block of dates on May 19, so you wouldn't have too much longer to wait for that.

Considering you have ruled out three airlines you are restricting your options. Which DC airports are you willing to consider?

Dulles would be preferred, we'll use National if we need to.

BWI....ugh. Only if absolutely necessary.

If you usually prefer Southwest I'd wait on Southwest. I know it's hard when you want to do something but you know them and you are happy with them so I'd wait on them.

Jet Blue has several non stops a day from Reagan National. They moved from Dulles being their main D.C. Airport a couple of years ago.

I think the first part of your trip is bookable on Southwest, so I'd go ahead and do that, then book your return when the dates open up. No harm in having two itineraries and two one-way bookings won't cost any more than a round trip.

I'll check on National for JetBlue.

And I looked up and down Southwest's site and they don't seem to have anything past 11/3 opened up yet.

(And yeah, I know I'm being a little impatient. I'm one of those people who like to get things knocked out at the earliest opportunity)

Why are you so against BWI??

I get great prices on SW from BWI on nonstops. BWI is a SW hub so they have LOTS of flights daily.

Says they're from DC, so it's probably the traffic factor. But I agree, the more WN you can get the better.

I'm guessing if they live near Dulles they don't want to battle traffic to get to BWI. I hated that drive when I lived out that way.
