We had a flight booked with United that they cancelled on us at the last minute (after we'd checked in). I had paid for the flights with an electronic travel voucher and cash. They are refunding us with a new electronic travel voucher and cash, in proportion to how I paid. Is this the best I can expect, even though they cancelled the flight? I can't get an actual refund of the money I had originally paid to United, which led to the voucher in the first place?
I'm looking for responses from people who have actual knowledge of DOT rules on this, not theoretical opinions about what is fair. I'm not bashing United, just seeking info. Thanks!
