Ok this isn't exactly a WDW question but want your opinions anyway! We are booked for flights with Delta in January. Not sure if I should worry about them actually going bankrupt before we go?? Just read an article about how they are worse off than they should be this quarter and there are problems with the pilots etc. They've already changed our flight times once. Should I be worried?? :confused3

Actually, Delta Air Lines has already filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. That's not the same as going out of business. The whole idea is not to shut down, but to have court protection from creditors and more flexibility to get out of bad contracts, with the goal of emerging as an economically viable business.

But the question, "Should I be worried?" is still valid.

I wouldn't worry about winding up with worthless tickets in January. Nor would I worry that Delta will stop flying to Orlando.

Delta is cutting back on some domestic service, while increasing international service. Although airline schedules are usually pretty well locked in about 2-4 months ahead of time, you might see another schedule change.

Right now, the airline industry needs to see lower jet fuel costs. Despite massive cost cutting, the airline industry is still suffering huge losses due largely to the high cost of jet fuel.

After US Airways was allowed to continue operating, it seems clear that the judiciary is unwilling to allow ANY major airline to fail, at this time. We've got flights on Delta in January and are not giving it a second thought.
