Flight prices - July or Dec/January?

Hi,

Just making very vague plans for the future about when we would take our trips to WDW and I was wondering if anyone knew if flights in late December (eg. Dec 26th or 27th) and returning early January (eg. January 7th) would generally be good value? I know that July flights are v. expensive due to school holidays. There will be times when we can only go in July but there might be a year when we could go in winter. Anyone know if winter can be better value? (This is all, of course, hypothetical as of yet as we it'll be at least 2 years before we get to go back. *Sigh*)

Flight prices after the 24/12 are generally more reasonable than the July ones. We have got decent prices flying out on the 26/12 a couple of times in the past.

flying christmas day could be worth a look, very often bargain prices as a lot of people don't want to fly then.

also July usually shoulders at around the 15th, getting out just a few days earlier may save you a lot

As I see you are in Ireland have you checked out the new Aer Lingus flights from Dublin to MCO - they start 28th October and their off peak is very good value :thumbsup2

:faint: OMG!! I had no idea Tracey! This is terrific news for me. Aer Lingus had stopped doing direct flights a couple of years back - I am so happy to hear that they're doing them again (not that they're a great airline, they're not :lmao: but it could prove so much better financially and more convenient! Thanks again. :thumbsup2

:rotfl:

You live down there but I may be driving on your new motorways to that airport too. Driving 100 miles is soo much cheaper than flying across the Irish Sea!!! :cool1:

Just checked out the site - no huge bargains for late Dec (but not awful prices either) *but* they're doing flights for 145 each way plus taxes next February. 2000 for our family of 5. :scratchin Hmmmm... the words "mid-term" and "quiet in the parks" come to mind..... let's see what I can come up with. I so want to fly with crappy Aer Lingus now :lmao: :thumbsup2

And you'd have the drive done and over with before you even finish your wait in Gatwick if you flew through London! Very time efficient way to go!

Is Aer Lingus not great to fly with then - never had the pleasure yet :)
but if it is going to save a lot (we're a family of 4) then it may well be worth it! May even manage a couple of trips now that we have somewhere to stay - maybe even an adult only one when the kids are at school :cool1:

Tracey, Aer Lingus are okay, basic but okay! We flew with them to New York a couple of years ago and the stewards weren't very friendly and service was poor (blankets/drinks). But then again we flew with them from MCO to Orlando and they had American stewardesses on board and they couldn't have been nicer. So it's hard to generalise - certainly, they'll get you where you need to go, just without any frills (or seatback TVs)! :) I'd have no hesitation in flying with them again, if it saved a chunk of money!
