Flight price tips?

We are planning our trip to disney, and due to the fact that my 13 year old does not want to miss the first day of school, our days are pretty limited, and unfortunately, they are pushing us to a monday or sunday fly out, which are the priciest.

For the 5 of us, out of providence, we are looking at $1700 on southwest on the monday, $2000 on the sunday (if we went on wed, $1200 :sad2: ).

I have looked into leaving from Manchester NH, which is a little cheaper, but it's also a 2 hour drive, vs a 40 minute drive. Perhaps worth it.

Any tips on how to get the best price on flights? Our airline is 1/2 of what it's costing us at DW for the week.

I don't have any advice..We've been watching fares too..We leave on a Sunday come back Saturday..can't change the days. We've got Boston, Providence and Manchester as options as well

I was watching a one-way non-stop airtran flight out of Boston waiting for a good choice for return flight and it jumped from $114 up to $273 today.

I finally bit the bullet and took the Southwest out of Manchester. There parking is a weekly max of 85. and they still offer infant fares if you call.

We got about the same avg $340 per rountrip ticket non-stop at reasonable times. Of course we could jump around the country for cheaper.

Its better than the $500+ we were looking at in April if we didn't leave mid-week.

How far are you from Atlantic City? We are taking Spirit in December (tues - tues) for the 4 of us round trip its under $500. We were actually upset at that price because we thought it would be lower, but with gas prices going up, it was the best we could do.

Plus don't forget - with Spirit you have to pay for every non-carry on piece of luggage you bring. If you pre-order its $10 per piece.

Do you mean Providence RI ???

You should be able to get flights for 482.50 total
each way...
I guess not for Labor Day Though...:sad2:
I see DING fares all the time for PVD for $74.
just be patient...
I would book the flight down now...
Then when the flight comes up on DING
you can get a credit for the difference and
book the flight home.
Also you can buy a SW credit on E-bay for about
85% of their value.
So you can save another 15% :thumbsup2

I'm not sure of your dates, but I got $160 per person out of Boston on Air Tran this week. :thumbsup2 We're going the end of September and I booked it this past Tuesday. Sounds like another poster looked at Air Tran, so that price may not be available for your dates.

I couldn't believe our luck with that price. I really wanted to fly JetBlue, but the savings was too good to pass up!

Good luck with your flights!

I'm glad you started this thread...I've been online for hours out of the day looking for the best possible rates and discounts!!! (no luck)
I do know that some flights are cheaper when flying out during the week instead of the weekend, but not always.
Try going to www.google.com and do a search for "airline coupon codes" and see what you come up with.
Good luck and wish me luck too!!! ;)

I don't know about your dates, but I got SW for Sept out of PVD for $180 RT when they first came out. We must be around the same area in MA, 2 hrs to Manch (I went to school up there), 45 min to PVD, 45 min to BOS, and 45 min to Hartford. Let me know if you need some advice. PM me or email me if you want! RN2003AZ@aol.com :goodvibes

Wow I can't believe the price variations from Providence!! We are headed out Aug 25 and returning Sept 1. We want an early flight out and a late flight back. The best pricing I am getting on SW is $1720...out of Manchester, same basic flight times, I am down to $1185. That's a huge savings, but we will have to drive through Boston, and to get our flight leave here SUPER early.

All I can say is when you find a good price, book it.

I bought my tickets for the 3 of us round trip out of Dayton, Ohio on Delta for $570 and the very next day the tickets shot up $50 a pop! And they haven't came down since and that was 3 months ago. Oh, and our return flight is on Memorial day too, so that could be why the prices jacked way up.

I would just keep checking the rates and if you can possibly leave on a thursday or Friday try to arrange it, rates always seem cheaper then.

I just booked our flights last week for our trip. I used Delta but at the time I was looking with any airline it was cheeper to buy one way tickets than to buy a round trip ticket by at least 100.00 per seat. Maybe I just caught it at the right time. I am getting all 6 of us from Philly to Orlando and back for 650.00.

seawitch we're in dayton too :) but we're flying airtran, the 6 of us round trip non stop was 1100 with taxes/fees and trip ins. I was a bit :o about it, but it was the cheapest i could find.

www.kayak.com

OP those two sites are both really helpful, good luck with your tickets!

I don't mean to scare you, but we had booked Spirit, always flew them, 8 months before our trip to Orlando. 3 months before our trip, Spirit e-mailed us that they were cancelling the flight and no longer flying out of ORD because they were losing money on flights to Orlando. I have never flown them again. I was FURIOUS and now all the cheap flights on SWA were booked so we ended up spending more money than we should have. Not fair.

Try kayak.com and you will be able to have them email you the price of flights daily...Wednesdays are usually the cheapest day to book, but that doesn't mean it's the cheapest day to fly. This site is good to keep track of flight fares.
