if we are using Disney transport back to George Bush, how early do you think we could safely make a flight?

Thanks!

I'm sure others who have actually done it can give you more input, but IAH is my closest airport and I've cruised Disney out of Galveston. It's a little over 70 miles from Galveston to IAH. Depending on the day of the week, the weather, and other factors it will take at least 1.5 hours to get from the ship to the airport. Some days, it can take three hours. If Disney transport goes to each of the five terminals, you can spend an hour tooling around the airport before you ever get off the bus. Then you need to allow for airport security, etc. I would be okay with a flight five or more hours after your disembarkation time.

If your flight is before 1 PM, DCL won't sell you a transfer. Also note that fog preventing the ship to dock is a recurring problem in Galveston during the DCL cruising season. I wouldn't cut it close. Last December, the ship was only able to dock at 12PM on one sailing and last week, it docked at 5PM, left 14 hours late and skipped Key West.

I was on the Dec. 30th sailing and everything went perfectly. We used a private transport so I don't know about the efficiency of the DCL bus. We were all checked in and ready to fly at 10 AM.

We were on the sailing last week with the fog delay. I had booked our flights for 5:35pm out of IAH and my DH had been giving me a hard time about how late I booked it (he hates hanging out in the airport, where as I like to be there early & relax). Well with the fog delay we missed the 5:35 flight. On the bus at 4, at the airport at 6, on a the plane for 7:30 flight.
If we were going again, I would still book the 5:35 flight as I think our fog delay was extreme, but there could be delays docking & traffic can be heavy.

The Carnival Valor was suppose to dock on Saturday morning, but didn't get in until Sunday morning. I wonder how many of those people missed their flights?
