Now have what to do about car seats sorted - thanks.

Next question. We travel on the 11:15am Virgin flight from Gatwick (on a Tuesday morning). What time do we need to get to Gatwick please? Due to other commitments we can't travel the night before so we have had to rule that out. I was thinking we need to get there at least 4 hours before. Is that enough? What time do Virgin checkins open at Gatwick?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what time the check-ins open, but I would try and get there as early as you can - although you have given Virgin your seating preferences they are not gauranteed.

I'd agree wholeheartedly with Tim - get there as early as you can "just in case".

Can't agree with the other replies enough - as early as you can. The Virgin check-in is supposed to open a minimum of 4.5 hours before each flight - and they are normally open nice and early.

Have you pre-booked any seats? If so, it's still so worthwhile arriving early.

There's plenty of shops and restaurants to while away a couple of hours, and then you'll be off to the departure lounge (few more shops, food places) and then you'll be off - it's amazing how the time really does fly by:D

We checked in at 8am for the 11:15 flight and our seats had already been given away!!

The queue was very long but there were lots of desks open and it moved fairly quickly. There were security staff at Gatwick and Orlando doing pre-checks of passports and reminders about hand luggage. (We had to take the kids pencil sharpeners out of the hand luggage.)
