they changed their flight again and this time they even changed their plane we are leaving a week from Saturday do I have to get Disney called? I am afraid the new bag tickets won't make it here in time? what do I do now, they plan on using ME for luggage since she is expecting.
A brief explanation, to help you feel better ....
DME requires reservations for 2 reasons: they are required to have them as per their contract with the airport authority (no "walk-ups" are permitted); and it lets them know roughly how many people will be going to what resorts at about what times, so they can plan transportation routes.
You have DME reservations, so there's no problem there. If you flight numbers or flight times change, no big deal. You were never assigned to an exact bus at an exact time, so it makes no difference when you show up, as long as it's the same day. The only time it ever matters is if your flight arrives late at night. DME accommodates arriving passengers 24 hours a day, but from a practical point of view, if you are the DME manager, and you have no reservations for arrivals after, say, 11:00 p.m. one night, and the next arrival isn't scheduled until 7 a.m. the next morning, you're not going to pay staff to stand at an empty counter, so you send them home. If a passenger shows up at midnight who had originally been scheduled on a flight that arrived at Noon, that passenger would be out of luck.
DME's computers do track flight numbers and are tied into the airport's computers, so they know if flights have been delayed. For example, if your flight was supposed to arrive at 8 p.m. but has been delayed by weather or repair, and you are registered with DME as being booked on that flight, even if your delayed flight lands at 3 a.m. there will be staff at the DME counter because they will know to wait for you.
So in other words, if you are scheduled to arrive at night, it would be ideal if DME had your accurate flight info. If you arrive earlier in the day, it's not all that important.
In any case, there's absolutely 100% no reason to have new (replacement) DME tags if your flight time changes. The airport baggage handlers and the DME support staff don't give one hoot what the time might say on a tag -- if the bag has a DME tag, it will be delivered to the resort, end of story.
HAVE FUN!
