Any recommendations on a flickr app for the android operating system? I have the Flickr free app, which doesn't really cut it. I'm willing to pay for one but I'd like some recommendations before I start purchasing by trial and error!

Thanks!

Have you tried the mobile site? I have the official flickr app for the iPhone and never use it as the mobile site works just fine.

Do you mean just using the web browser directly on the flickr site? If so, that doesn't sync well for me; it's always quite behind.

I use the app JustPictures for viewing my own Flickr photos.

I've thought about using Picasa for its native sync/upload support with the Android gallery (Picasa is owned by Google).

I tried to find a decent app with no luck (bought BettrFlickr but it doesn't cut it). Honestly, though, the mobile site works fine for me, never been "out of sync" http://m.flickr.com/

What I dislike about using the mobile flickr site through the browser is
1) the images are too small. I want full-sized image that I can swipe through like the Android gallery.
2) when I click on the small image to view a larger version I can't scroll right, so I can only see the left site of images that are wider than my screen.
3) navigation isn't intuitive. To get a specific set of images, after logging in I have to go to "You", which brings up my entire photostream, then click the "..." in the upper-right, then "Sets", then select the set I want to see. Between each click I have to wait for the next page to load. Too cumbersome.

JustPictures is free and I can pinch & zoom and move around the image. Plus, JustPictures catches my images, so swiping though a set is super quick; no waiting for the image to download each time. You could have JP automatically sync with flickr. I only sync after I've uploaded to flickr. I just long-press on the flickr gallery within the app and select pre-fetch images. I'm usually at home on wi-fi when I do this, so it's faster. This way I'm not wasting battery power using 3G on the mobile site when I'm on the go.

Yeah, not sure why the mobile site is often out of sync for me. Often my most recently uploaded picture will not be up on the mobile site and sometimes it even goes backwards- will show a picture at one point and then later in the day, it will be gone. I guess I'll keep using it, though, if there isn't much better out there. I was just hoping for something good so that I could use my phone during the day instead of my work computer, so they wouldn't be able to trace that I was on flickr all day! Thanks anyway! I will try out Just Pictures, though, and see how it goes.

That's odd about the mobile site. Try clearing the browser's cache, cookies, and history and give it another go. Also, remember that the images may display in a different order in the photostream vs in a set. So, when you say that a recently uploaded image isn't showing up, it could be there, but not in the place you're looking.

I do not use Flickr, but had similar things happen with my pics on Facebook using the default browser app. I now use Skyfire and have had no problems. I have been the happiest with it. I didn't like Opera or my default one (MetroPCS).
