Okay, i don't know if this is a silly question or not, but hey, i hope there's some advice out there :-) We're going with a party of likely 6 people (5 adults, one toddler) and among the adults there are 2 (or even 3) small eaters. We'll likely be on the DxDP but doing aaaaaaa lot of 2 credits :-) So for every meal, we'd be entitled to appetiser, entree and desserts. Now I was wondering if it would be "acceptable" if we only order let's say for 3 or 4 adults, and ask the waiters to bring a few of the appetisers at the same time as the entree's so the light eaters could have those instead ? (of course, i'm assuming it's not a buffet meal !!) Or if this seems like a bad idea, do people sometimes share plates ?

Second question I had, if you're with 5 people on the DxDP, do you always need to have your meals together ? Can like 2 people go eat in place x and the others in place y ? In other words, are you very flexible in using your points ?

Thirdly, I've seen other people mention using their points which they had left over to treat others in QS, could you also do this in TS restaurants ? thanks so much guys for your advice

Oh, by the way, skipping meals is even for the light eaters no way to go; we live like the french; we don't eat heaps but very very often !!! :-)

This belongs on the dining plan board, so it will probably be moved.

As to the questions... you can always order fewer meals than your KTTW cards indicate you're allowed, and each person on the reservation has access to the credits, so splitting up is just fine.

Since you're all on the same plan (I assume), sharing food isn't a problem (except for Beaches and Cream, apparently), so splitting 3 or 4 meals among 5 diners will work just fine. As for reserving one or more of the appetizers to come out with the entrees... I can't imagine this would be a problem, but you're basically asking the server to step outside of the normal routine, so bear in mind that things might or might not work out exactly as you hope.

I'm not sure how this could be done.

Others have posted that they stood at the register of some place like Casey's Corner and paid for strangers meals. though this may be officially, unofficially or randomly discouraged.

How would you do this at a TS? Randomly tell a family "When you get your check call me over and I'll give you my card."

I think this would be outright not allowed.

I forget which restaurant but they would not let me and my husband share a meal and use only one TS on year.

When we do Deluxe dining we tend to do a buffet breakfast wherever we're staying (we stayed at Beach Club for a week and ate at Cape Mae 4 or 5 times). We then plan counterservice for lunch and do a 2 TS for dinner (or 1 TS depending on the restaurant). We love the ammenities of deluxe dining, but my husband really hated being tied down for 3 meals a day, so even if counter service isn't as expensive we still used it and we still got our money's worth I think.

The official rule is that you can't use your dining credits to purchase anything for someone not on the plan. It may happen here and there, but it is not allowed by the rules of the plan.

oops, is there any way i can move this thread myself to DDP ?

The idea for maybe giving away TS came when I read about a family who was eating in SciFi and was offered their dinner by the guests sitting in the backseat of their car....

I guess you're right that asking to bring the appetisers along with the entrees may cause confusion, so i think we'll not go there....So we'll rather be looking at maybe sharing....
Has anyone actually shared their meals recently among their family ? And if so, at which restaurants ? Has anyone done it in a signature restaurant and did they feel they were frowned upon ?

hiya, yip, the ones in my first post were, but in my last post (before the bump) i was asking for people's actual experiences in this. I'd particularly like to know if some people have done this in the signature restaurants, i'm thinking like flying fish and artist point.
